MEET AN ISNA SPEAKER:
Omar Mahmood
 

Omar Mahmood was born and raised in southern California. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California Los Angeles where he double-majored in psychobiology and Arabic. He then studied Islamic sciences in the traditional seminary known as Dar al-Mustafa. He later completed a PhD in clinical psychology at Wayne State University and is currently a research scientist at the University of California, San Diego. He serves as a national advisor to the Muslim Youth of North America and is on the board of directors for Access California Services, a community-based agency that provides social services to the Arab American and Muslim populations in southern California. He is active in efforts to promote the development of Islamic identity in Muslim youth through spirituality, counseling, recreation, and the arts.

November 26, 2013- This past weekend ISNA held its Central Zone conference at the Islamic Center of Greater Cincinnati in West Chester Ohio.  The theme of the conference was "Growing through life's challenges: Lessons from the Quran and Sunnah".  Several hundred attendees consisting of ...
