ISNA EVENTS & E-DIALOGUE:

  

ISNA's Masjid Forum, to be held November 8 - 10 at the ISNA Headquarters in Plainfield, IN is a mini conference of Muslim leaders and experts. The forum will focus on developing concrete recommendations for strengthening and growing mosques in North America by means of shared experiences, expert advice and open discussion.

MEET OUR SPEAKER:
Umm Zakiyyah
 

Daughter of American converts to Islam, Umm Zakiyyah is the internationally acclaimed author of the If I Should Speak trilogy and the novels Realities of Submission and Hearts We Lost. Her novels have been used in universities in America and abroad including Indiana University-Bloomington, Howard University, University of DC, and Prince Sultan University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Umm Zakiyyah's work has earned praise from writers, professors, and filmmakers and has been translated into multiple languages. Currently, her first novel, If I Should Speak, is being contracted for a movie, in collaboration with writer/director/producer Nia Malika Dixon.

In 2008, Umm Zakiyyah was awarded the Muslim Girls Unity Conference Distinguished Authors Award and was selected as a TEDx speaker in February 2013.

Umm Zakiyyah is now writing juvenile fiction stories under her birth name, Ruby Moore.

ISNA Delegation Meets President of Senegal, Plans for 2014 Religious Freedom Conference
October 25, 2013- ISNA's commitment to addressing the rights of religious minorities in Muslim majority countries continued last week with discussions in Dakar, Senegal. Through an invitation from Senegalese President, Macky Sall, a delegation from ISNA visited Senegal to meet with the president, along with other central government officials.
