From the President's Desk
Thanks to ISDF and All Our Contributors
By Marilyn Johnson, ISSP President and Senior Director, Corporate Sustainability at IHS, Seattle WA
ISSP is very excited to see the growing community of ISSP Certified Sustainability Professionals, and the highly engaged membership in all of the ISSP offerings! This continued progress and success would not be possible without the hard work of our board, membership and ISSP staff, to whom we are all so grateful. In addition, we are so appreciative and would like to acknowledge the recent donation to ISSP of over $10,000 USD from the International Sustainable Development Foundation (ISDF). There is strong alignment between ISSP and ISDF, who share a rich history of driving sustainability practice globally. We are honored by this, and all contributions which help to grow and sustain our ISSP efforts going forward.

ISSP Certification News First Cohort of Certified Sustainability Professionals Take Their Place in History
Congratulations to the more than 50 people in the first group to earn the ISSP Certified Sustainability Professional (ISSP-CSP) designation. As part of the world's first globally recognized certification program for sustainability professionals, members of this inaugural cohort of ISSP-CSPs have successfully demonstrated a combination of sustainability-related work experience, formal education, recommendations from their peers and have also achieved a passing grade on both the ISSP Sustainability Associate (ISSP-SA) and ISSP Certified Sustainability Professional (ISSP-CSP) tests. Earlier this year, we honored the first group of more than 130 sustainability professionals who successfully qualified for ISSP-SA designation. Cheers to all!

ISSP Announces Educational Partners Program
The ISSP Education Committee is hard at work finalizing the details of the ISSP Education Partners program. The purpose of the program is to:
-
Identify Education Providers that have the resources and programs to provide superior education for ensuring sustainability professionals have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to address the sustainability challenges currently being faced by the world;
-
Provide organizations interested in creating sustainability education with guidance on the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed of sustainability professionals and the criteria for providing that education; and
-
Provide guidance to current and aspiring sustainability professionals on opportunities for high quality sustainability education and professional development opportunities
The ISSP Education Partners program is for organizations that are leaders and reputable providers of sustainability education whose mission is aligned with that of ISSP: Making sustainability standard practice around the world. Initially, the program will focus on Educational Providers with programs to prepare individuals with the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined in the ISSP Body of Knowledge for Sustainability Professionals and allow those individuals to pass the ISSP-SA and ISSP-CSP certification exams. It is anticipated that, within a year, this program will also include Educational Providers who offer ongoing continuing education units (CEUs) for certified sustainability professionals seeking to maintain their ISSP certification through the ISSP recertification process.
ISSP Education Partners will receive numerous benefits, including access to ISSP intellectual property and educational resources; recognition as a qualified ISSP Education Partner on the ISSP website, ISSP promotional materials, and through ISSP social media outlets; the ability to promote programs and courses on the ISSP website and through ISSP mailings; use of an ISSP Education Partner logo and other marketing materials to attract students; discounted rates on ads in the ISSP Newsletter and on the ISSP website, and up to 3 free individual ISSP memberships, plus discounted rates on additional memberships.
To become an ISSP Education Partner, an organization must sign the ISSP Code of Ethical Practice and Values, and show a history of high-quality sustainability educational offerings; instructors and course developers who have ISSP certification (requirement may be waived in the first year of the program to allow individuals time to obtain the certification); and accreditation by a recognized accrediting body or documentation that the organization's operations and policies meet the standard required for accreditation. There will be a application fee and an yearly membership fee.
Organizations that are interested in becoming Education Partners should contact us at [email protected]

ISSP's upcoming course, Stakeholder Engagement Strategies, provides just what the title implies: a framework for effective stakeholder engagement in making and implementing sustainability decisions.
The course will be taught by three sustainability experts: Kathryn Cooper, President and Chief Learning Officer at the Sustainability Learning Centre; Wendy Firlotte, Corporate Sustainability Engagement Specialist at Engage International; and Robb Dods, Program Manager for the Region of Waterloo, Canada.
