By Marilyn Johnson, ISSP President and Senior Director, Corporate Sustainability at IHS, Seattle WA
The enthusiasm is palpable! The overwhelming response to the Beta test invitation filled the available spots in record time. Good luck to all who are registered to sit for the Beta
Sustainability Associate exam!
A huge thank you to everyone in the ISSP Sustainability community who has helped us to get to this incredible milestone of having the first cohort of professional certification tests underway! To ensure that the Beta testing sets us up for a successful certification launch later this year, we are thrilled to announce the esteemed Beta Test Advisory Council (BTAC). This is a committed and select group of respected and seasoned Sustainability Professionals from around the world and across industries who will be convening to provide their expertise and meaningful insights into the process and key test elements. We'll introduce you to various members of the BTAC in the months ahead.
-Marilyn Johnson, ISSP President
" An ISSP Certification program is something I have supported since the inception of ISSP. I'm so pleased and grateful to those who have done so much to get this far." - Rick Woodward, BTAC member and Sustainability Specialist, Coastwide Labs, LEED Certified

Help Shape the Future-Fit Business Benchmark
by Bob Willard, Member of ISSP Sustainability Hall of Fame
As many of you know, Geoff Kendall, CEO of the Future-Fit Foundation, and I are co-authoring the science-based Future-Fit Business Benchmark (F2B2). We received valuable input from dozens of experts on our first public draft, published in October 2014. Based on that feedback, we have refined our document and have posted Public Draft 2 on the Future-Fit Business website. Following this second and final round of feedback and suggestions, we will publish Release 1 by yearend.
Public Draft 2 document provides guidance on how to provide your feedback on the overall document, the 21 goals, and especially the key performance indicators (KPIs) by which companies can assess their progress toward each goal. To facilitate feedback, we have set up wikis for each KPI that are linked to by the document. That's where you come in. We are inviting you to give us your reactions, suggestions, and feedback so that F2B2 will be a useful resource for your sustainability champion efforts.
Please spread the word to others in your network. The Future-Fit Business Benchmark is a free, open-source resource so you can start using whatever is helpful in your efforts as a sustainability champion now. Go for it!

New Risky Business Project Report Highlights Climate Risks to Southeast US and Texas
A new report from the Risky Business Project (RBP), Come Heat and High Water, finds the Southeastern US and Texan economies face severe risks from climate change. Higher temperatures, rising sea levels and coastal storm surge will put businesses, and even lives, at risk.
The RBP is chaired by Michael R. Bloomberg, Henry Paulson and Tom Steyer. It focuses on quantifying and publicizing the economic risks from the impacts of a changing climate.
The report makes the case for better management of climate risk by business and government. Read the full report, including state-specific information, here.
The 11 Southeastern states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia, as well as Texas to the west, will likely experience significant drops in agricultural yields and labor productivity, along with higher energy demand and mortality rates, as the climate changes.
