Drawing a Human Bust
In this course students will be drawing from a life-sized, realistic sculpture of a bust (head and shoulders), employing rudimentary classical techniques such as blocking-in, measuring with line-angle construction, and value(s) establishment. The instructor will periodically offer demonstrations to elucidate the process. All levels of student skill are welcome and their individual needs addressed accordingly.
Mondays, 6-8 pm, July 29-September 9,
(SKIP SEPT. 2 ) , 6 weeks, $99.
Materials: Drawing board support for individual drawing paper (minimum paper size, 16x20)or Drawing pad with cardboard back support (minimum drawing pad size 16x20), Drawing pencils-2H, HB, and 8B (additional shades are welcome, Kneaded eraser, Matte fixative.

Still Life Paintings by Kevin Spaulding

Painting the Still Life
From a rough charcoal sketch, fixing the drawing, tinting (vellatura) the canvas, monochrome under-painting (grissalle), to middle and late stages (glazing), painting with oil colors, students will learn the classical techniques employed by the Master painters of the Renaissance/Baroque period. The instructor will provide thorough demonstrations to better familiarize the students with each state of the process. All levels of student skill are welcome and their individual needs addressed accordingly. Continuing students may resume their current still life painting from the previous class or begin a new still life painting.
Wednesdays, 6-8 pm, July 31-September 4, 6 weeks, $99.
Materials--18x24 canvas, Linseed Oil, 2 " large flat brush, 1/2 flat brush, 1/4" filbert and round brush, and detail brush, Turpenoid, Burnt Umber, Ultramarine Blue, Yellow Ochre, Burnt Sienna, Cadmium Red
