Great Lakes Environmental Education Workshop

This public outreach event, offered by the Air & Waste Management Association as part of their annual convention, will provide teachers with background information about Environmental issues in the Great Lakes, and hands-on lessons to do with their students.

Who Would Benefit?
Classroom teachers of grades K-12, staff of Environmental Education Centers, Home School Parents and Coordinators. 

 

About the Lessons
In addition to sharing basic information about Great Lakes and Sustainability Issues, the Workshop will present four lesson plans from the A&WMA Environmental Lesson Guides and other organizations. 
  • Name That Source: Types of Water Pollution and their Sources (Grades 6-8)
  • Will You Pass the Acid Test? Understanding Acid Rain (Grades 9-12)
  • Who Can Harvest a Walleye? (A Game for all Ages)
  • Nasty Waters: What Happens to Pollutants in Water (Grades 3-5)

Hold the Date for SWANCC's Fall Informational Seminar

SWANCC Informational Workshop
To start the school year off on a "green" foot - the only way to begin, SWANCC offers a free Informational Seminar for educators, ecology club sponsors and parent volunteers to learn about the many waste reduction and sustainability programs and resources that are available, as well as an opportunity to network with others striving to achieve similar goals.

 

The seminar will be held at SWANCC's Glenview office from 10 a.m. to noon and there is no cost to attend, but registration is required.  Details will be posted mid-August at swancc.org
