What to Do with Locker and Desk Leftovers?
Think Before You Throw Anything Away!
As students and teachers count the days until the school year ends, lockers, desks and classrooms will need to be cleaned out. Be sure to reduce the garbage pile by reusing and recycling items as much as possible.
By collecting "like" items in a common area, it is easy for volunteers to sort through the piles to determine what can be reused - or donated to an organization or to those in need, and what can be recycled.
Read through SWANCC's easy to follow and implement Locker-Clean-Out guidelines. Also, see the Green Pages Reuse and Recycling Directory for places to donate gently-used items.

Hold the Date for SWANCC's Fall Informational Seminar
September 26, 2013
To start the school year off on a "green" foot - the only way to begin, SWANCC offers a free Informational Seminar for educators, ecology club sponsors and parent volunteers to learn about the many waste reduction and sustainability programs and resources that are available, as well as an opportunity to network with others striving to achieve similar goals.
The seminar will be held at SWANCC's Glenview office from 10 a.m. to noon and there is no cost to attend, but registration is required. Details will be posted mid-August at swancc.org.
Please forward this information to anyone in the school that is responsible for "green" initiatives. Thank you.
Have a great summer!
