Flood Debris Disposal

Storm debris In the aftermath of the recent rainfall, there are a number of residents needing to dispose of damaged property. Some municipalities have arranged for special flood debris services.

In the event that you are not able to take full advantage of these pickup services or you are in need of additional disposal services, visit swancc.org for a list of options.

Stormwater Management: What You Can Do

This rain barrel collects water through the downspout for later use. Many are wondering how to reduce the amount of damage following an event such as the April flooding when the stormwater systems were not able to accommodate the volume of water entering the system. There are many ways that home owners and renters alike can provide alternative avenues to utilize rain water. Collectively, these options can make a big difference.

Some options for diverting rainfall include the use of:

  • Bioswales
  • Greywater systems
  • Permeable paving
  • Rain barrels
  • Rain gardens
  • Xeriscaping
