Prom 2013: Glass Slipper Project
Together with Westfield Properties, Oak Street Design is collecting new and gently used dresses, shoes and accessories for The Glass Slipper Project, a local organization that provides prom attire, free of charge, to young Chicago women who are unable to purchase their own.Fashion students from three local high schools, Niles North, Niles West and New Trier are designing 3-dimensional sculptures inspired by their favorite trends this season.
With just one day at the Oak Street Design studio, and a whole lot of recycled and re-purposed materials transformed, the dresses will be available for viewing (and voting!) in the outdoor garden beds of Old Orchard Center from March 11th through May 8th. The art project will create buzz for The Glass Slipper Project and encourage donations from visitors and guests.
Westfield Properties will be accepting donations on Saturday, March 16th and 23rd from noon - 3:00pm at the Westfield Concierge at Old Orchard in Skokie.
Westfield Hawthorn in Vernon Hills will be accepting donations at Windsor Fashions, located on L2, through March 23rd.
Two of the student-designed sculptures will also appear on ABC-7 Chicago, along with a fashion show segment highlighting top trends in prom fashion for 2013! Tune in Wednesday, March 13th at 11:40am to see the show live.
