Judy Newman
Happy New Year to all of you -
Our Wonderful WAAAM Supporters.

Without you this museum could not and would not be what is today. A treasure in the Northwest that is getting world renown recognition not only for the fabulous collection but for our volunteers as well.

As we march toward our seventh anniversary in September, I would like first to give you a quick 2013 recap: We have had many major car and plane donations as well as monetary donations that help this collection grow.

The museum founder Terry Brandt built an additional 27,000 square feet on tho the museum that we now call M3  ("M" is for museum and "3" is for the third building). We started moving into this wonderful space in November and will celebrate our " Grand Opening" during the February Second Saturday Event. Please Join Us.

The WAAAM Traffic Jam
Car Show and the Hood River Fly-in were both great successes and we thank you our visitors and participants and our many local business for their sponsorship's in making these fun for everyone.

Looking towards 2014 we will continue to operate many of our wonderful old artifacts in the view of the public as we will hold our "Second Saturday" Day of Action once each month. Also on the calendar are the "WAAAM Traffic Jam Car Show & Swap Meet" in July, the "Annual Hood River Fly-in" in September, " Model T Driving School", "WAAAM Camp", participate in the local parades, car shows and fly-ins. WAAAM will once again prepare one of the hangars as the The Rotary Clubs "Pear & Wine Festwill be held here in May. A busy year ahead!

The Western Antique Aeroplane & Automobile Museum is proud to be a a part of the Gorge and the Northwest..Sharing a passion of living antique transportation and history with locals and visitors each day.

Stop in soon to see what we have going on here... The coffee is always hot.

Clear Skies,

Judy Newman

Recycling and Reusing at its best!

Imagination & hard work
puts to use old barns boards back to good use

Volunteers ponder their next step

We're looking for reclaimed wood and we need your help!

With the new building addition we've got a lot of empty wall space so we're giving the walls a little pizzazz by covering the white insulation on the walls with old weathered "barn" wood in the shape of building fronts.

We're asking the community's help to find this old wood, lap siding and old corrugated metal roofing.

We've got over 500 feet of wall to cover.

We asked our Facebook followers for some building ideas and they came up with some great ideas. We've completed the fronts for a barber shop, jail, and a used car store. We're currently working on an antique auto parts store and there are plans drawn up for an elementary school and a telephone company.

Any leads or donations of material are greatly appreciated. As a 503(c) 3 non-profit all donations are tax deductible. Do you know of anything? Could you help us out? Give us a call at 541-308-1600!

Our 1913 REO The Fifth
has arrived

In the middle of December a flat bed truck arrives with a 1913 REO "the Fifth" on board. It was during that super cold snap when the roads were snowy but not wet so with wind blowing from the west comes a pretty original old REO.  Donated by Roscoe Nelson in memory of  his friend Thomas Engel this car is said to have been a "Parade Car" for the Apollo 1 astronauts. Maybe someone out there can find some pictures of this big event. To learn more about the REO Company Click Here . It runs but one tire is flat. Don't Worry! We will so have it replace and ready to roll! See it on display today. It is another name to add to the list of the many manufactures of vehicles on display at WAAAM

And a 1928 Model A Coupe
A New  Donation from Rees Stevenson, this Model A arrived only last week.
A daily driver that has been in the Gorge since the 50's and has taught a passel of Stevenson's and their friends to drive.
Stop by on Second Saturday and help us polish her up.

Our current car count as of today sits at 144

*Two new planes are on there way here too... Stay tuned to the Newsletter for updates in Feb*

We love the stories of these operating treasures.
Keep them coming our way.

VISITOR QUOTE

"Wonderful collection! To much to see in  one visit.
So we will be back."

 2013 Volunteer
of the Year

Congratulations to
Ben Davidson!

Director Judy Newman say "Ben has put in so much time, even since before WAAAM when this was a dream of Terry's' . I want to recognize all of his late nights cleaning hangars, annualing airplanes and flying them too, pushing a broom, doing paperwork, moving and arranging aircraft and auto to be displayed, and leading in the restoration of the Parker Pusher and that is truly the tip of the iceberg"
