Online pre-registration for this year's Great Lake Broadcasting Conference (GLBC) is now closed, but that doesn't mean you can't attend.  On-site registration will be available during the conference both Tuesday and Wednesday, March 7 and 8 at the Lansing Center.

GLBC Session Preview: A New Administration: What it Could Mean for Media

A new President and a new Chair of the FCC have already demonstrated that change is in the air in Washington. Already we've seen Chairman Pai lead the FCC to abolish the requirement that broadcasters maintain letters from the public about station operations in their public file, proposals to expand use of FM translators by AM stations and pushing ahead with the new ATSC 3.0 standard for television. In conjunction with Michigan's Severe Weather Awareness Week, April 16-22, broadcasters and emergency management partners statewide are encouraging to participate in a statewide tornado drill at 1:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, April 19.  Read more here...

WJBK-TV's Ron Savage Passes

The MAB is sad to announce that longtime WJBK-TV (Detroit) anchor and reporter Ron Savage passed away this past Saturday, February 25.  He was 63 years old.

Mike Talik Named WXYZ-TV/WMYD-TV Digital Sales Manager

WXYZ-TV and WMYD-TV (Detroit) have named Mike Talik as Digital Sales Manager. Talik has been a digital strategist with WXYZ, the ABC affiliate in Detroit, since April 2016.  Read more here...


Gonzalez Joins WLEN-FM

Lenawee Broadcasting's WLEN-FM (Adrian) has announced that Ashley Gonzalez has joined its staff. Gonzalez, an Adrian native, will be an integral part of the advertising, marketing and promotions department at the station.  Read more here...


CBS Radio's WYCD in the News Again!

WFQX Launches MeTV in Northern Michigan


MeTV, Memorable Entertainment Television, America's #1 All Classic TV Network, launched today (March 1) in Northern Michigan, airing on WFQX-TV channel 32.2 (Cadillac).
At this time, MeTV covers more than 90% of the country and has 100 affiliates.  Read more here..


FCC Filings:  Class A TV Station in Detroit Sold for $2M

On February 17, an application was filed with the FCC to transfer the license of WDWO-CD (Detroit) from Locuspoint WDWO Licensee, LLC of Plesanton, California to religious broadcaster TCT of Michigan, Inc. Read more here, including a Dearborn, MI FM translator application...
