Federal/Congressional Update
MAB Meets with Congressman Conyers On October 14, MAB Staff and members met with Congressman John Conyers (D-13) and District Director Yolonda Lipsey. The MAB would like to thank MAB Board members Rob David and Michael Renda, who attended this meeting. Read more here... Stage 2 Reverse Auction Concludes at $54.6BAccording to a report in CommLawCenter, the FCC concluded the second stage of the Reverse Spectrum Auction. The FCC set the cumulative buying price for 114 MHz of spectrum at $54,586,032,836, plus the cost of the $1.75 billion repacking fund and the cost of conducting the auction itself. Read more here...FCC Report: Retrans Fees are UpAccording to a report in Broadcasting & Cable, the FCC released its latest basic cable rate report and found that the average retrans payments had increased by almost $5 million. The FCC is required in the STELAR bill to survey for retrans payments. Read more here..."Electioneering" Ads Won't Have to Disclose the DonorsThe Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit declined to review a recent ruling which means that nonprofit political groups that sponsor "electioneering" ads won't have to disclose the donors funding those ads. Read more here...

WOOD-TV Announces Changes; Welcomes New Anchor
WOOD-TV (Grand Rapids) has announced a number of changes to its newscast and anchor lineup, effective October 17. The station's morning "24 Hour News 8 Daybreak" newscast welcomes Teresa Weakley to the station. Read more here...

FCC to TV Licensees: Where Are You?
In a somewhat unusual move, the FCC's Media Bureau and Incentive Auction Task Force have issued a joint public notice encouraging "all television licensees" to "ensure that their contact information on file with the Commission is accurate and current." As the notice reminds everybody, licensees are generally required to do so anyway, but it's especially important now in light of the impending spectrum repack process. Read more here...
