2016 ADVOCACY CONFERENCE & MAB ANNUAL MEETING

"Off The Record On The Road" at MAB Advocacy Conference!

Tim Skubick, 46-year veteran senior capitol correspondent and host of the award-winning public broadcasting show Off The Record since 1972, will join the line-up of speakers at the MAB Advocacy Conference.

Tim and his panel will discuss the upcoming election and its impact on the broadcasting industry from national to state elections.  Key issues will be presented with plenty of audience participation.

The 2016 Advocacy Conference and MAB Annual Meeting, plus the Hall of Fame and Lifetime Achievement Award ceremonies will be held August 30-31 at the Inn at St. John's in Plymouth.

MAB Files with the FCC to Drop Paper Letter Requirement

The Michigan Association of Broadcasers has joined other state broadcast associations in a FCC filling to support a proposal that commercial radio and television operators should no longer be required to keep hard copies of letters and emails from listeners and viewers in public files housed at the station. Read more here...

WDET Introduces "CultureShift"

Detroit-based public radio station WDET-FM  has debuted a new weekday program called "CultureShift," which airs live from noon to 3 p.m.

The show is described by the station as a culture magazine for radio, similar to syndicated popular national programs such as "Morning Edition" and "All Things Considered."  It also describes the program as "Your soundtrack to discovering Detroit.  Music, arts, food and what's happening."

WKAR'S Bushre Retires After 30 Years!

On July 29, WKAR-AM/FM/TV (East Lansing) said goodbye and congratulations to longtime membership office assistant Diana Bushre as she retires after 30 years with the stations.  Read more here...
