Rev. Dr. Thomas Long and Bishop Deborah Kiesey will be speakers at the upcoming West Ohio Annual Conference session this June at Lakeside Chautauqua. Dr. Long is the Bandy Professor of Preaching at Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta. Lay persons and clergy who wish to become candidates for election as a delegate to the 2016 General or Jurisdictional Conference and want to be included in the printed Voter Guide should note the registration deadline of January 15. You may still run for election after this deadline, you just will not be included in the Voter's Guide distributed to voting members in advance of annual conference. Human Relations Day Sunday is January 18

United Methodists from across the connection help bridge the gap between church and community by participating in the Human Relations Day off�ering. Human Relations Day is one of the demonination's six churchwide Special Sundays with off�erings. It is observed annually on the Sunday before the national observance of Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday.

Come to the Table: A Circles of Grace Conversation
The table of Christ is one table filled with unique voices from every perspective. The Ohio River Valley district has begun Circles of Grace conversations around race relations. The process launched Sunday, January 11 with a facilitated training session at New Vision United Methodist Church in Cincinnati. Attending were 150 people including 45 clergy from the Ohio River Valley District and 105 laity from their congregations. Experts were brought in to facilitate the dialogue. Come to the Table is a process with 4 training sessions, a pulpit swap on Martin Luther King weekend and a dialogue in local communities. Learn more
2015-2016 Scholarship Applications Now Available!
Applications are available for two scholarships for West Ohio undergrads attending accredited institutions of higher education. The West Ohio Student Leadership Scholarship is open to any West Ohio United Methodist high school senior or undergraduate of any institution of higher learning and awards up to ten scholarships with a minimum $500.00 award per student. The West Ohio Ethnic Minority Scholarship is a $3,000.00 award available to an incoming freshman of ethnic origin who plans to attend any United Methodist college or university. Safe Sanctuaries training
Last Sunday 178 West Ohioans attended Safe Sanctuaries� Training at The Plains United Methodist Church.  "The training was eye opening, engaging and so needful. ALL of us left educated and inspired to more faithfully live into our responsibilities," noted Pastor Alethea Botts, New Beginnings United Methodist Church. To date 372 leaders from 223 churches have attended this vital training. Climate Conversations
West Ohio's Creation Care Task Force invites you to a Climate Conversation on January 22 at various locations throughout Ohio. A Climate Conversation is a forum for informative, thoughtful, and morally-relevant conversation about climate change. Presenters will talk about the impact of climate change in Ohio and the potential of energy efficiency and renewable energy to fuel Ohio's economy. Methodist Theological School in Ohio is the host site for the live presentation that will be broadcast to various locations. The presentation will be followed by a local conversation at the different sites about climate change that honors different perspectives, faith affiliations, and responses.
