We are blessed as we come to annual conference

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ Jesus:

The 45th session of the West Ohio Annual Conference is upon us. It is my hope and prayer that our annual conference session will be a blessing to you, the church and the world. Together in the power of the Holy Spirit, God has blessed us to bless every community where we are planted in Ohio and around the world. What a sweet privilege.

Thank you to those of you who are preparing to arrive soon at Lakeside and will be fulfilling your role as a member of the annual conference. To those of you at home, please pray for our session and our members as they perform this rewarding and important work.

Your servant in Christ,

Bishop Gregory V. Palmer

Lakeside Chautauqua welcomes West Ohio

The residents, vendors and staff of Lakeside Chautauqua have been making preparations for our annual conference next week, when more than 2500 United Methodists from West Ohio descend upon their community. Here's a sneak peek at the upcoming article about us in the Lakeside Chautauqua newspaper.

We are most grateful for their hard work and hospitality, and all the behind-the-scenes effort that goes into preparing for our conference. And, of course, for the chance to enjoy the beauty of Lakeside.  If you are new to Lakeside, read its history.

Why Imagine No Malaria is a key priority of West Ohio
Anticipation and Appreciation For Sierra Leone Nets People are sharing the good news about lives saved thanks to insecticide-treated nets and more education about ways to fight malaria. In 2010, Imagine No Malaria played a key role in a health campaign that saw the distribution of 3.5 million nets in Sierra Leone. In June 2014, Imagine No Malaria will, once again, help to implement the distribution of medical care and bed nets - replacing the worn out nets with new ones and further cementing the church's commitment to global health.

For a Sierra Leone congregation, it is first the worship, then the work as they gear up to help distribute more than 350,000 insecticide-treated nets. Pictured at left are children working on a Sunday school lesson at Charles Davies Memorial United Methodist Church in Freetown, Sierra Leone on the Sunday prior to the distribution of the nets provided by Imagine No Malarai. Read how Work to eradicate malaria deaths starts with God.

"Holy Currencies" teaching to be featured at annual conference

Rev. Eric Law will be leading teachings throughout our annual conference session on Holy Currencies: Six Blessings for Sustainable Missional MinistriesThe Holy Currencies process promises possibilities for your church team to arrive at exciting ideas for missional ministries. Additionally, this process prepares the church team, with a fresh approach, to create a realistic action plan to implement at least one of these missional ministries. Learn more

Live streaming all sessions at annual conference
Every year our "home" audience has grown for annual conference as more and more people watch parts or all of the annual conference session at Lakeside Chautauqua on our Live Stream webpage. This year we'll be live streaming all of the annual conference sessions which take place in Hoover Auditorium, beginning with the Laity Service at 7pm on Sunday, June 8. Please join us when you can - it's a great way to watch (from the comfort of your air conditioned home or office) the ordination of friends, the worship services, the business of the annual conference and to hear Bishop Palmer's Episcopal Address. The sessions will also be available to view later on video. Bookmark this page www.westohioumc.org/livestream and join the conversation there and on Facebook and Twitter. #westohioac
