2014 summer camp season: Love God, Love Others
|
 | Click here and browse our 2014 program guide |
Registration is open for our annual summer camp program at West Ohio's three beautiful camps - Camp Wesley, Camp Otterbein and Camp Widewater. The excitement and joy of going to camp allows every child to hear and respond to God's call on their life and this summer's theme of "Love God, Love Others" will certainly encourage young hearts in understanding their call from Jesus. Whether it is in one of our new kayaks, singing praise songs at an evening worship service, or seated around a crackling campfire, God uses these and many other moments at camp to foster spiritual growth in real and transforming ways. Our program guide and video can't help but get you excited about camp! More information at westohiocamps.org.

White picket fence: resources on homelessness |
For most people who find themselves without a place to call "home," the path to homelessness is never straight or simple. It might be made up of a string of questionable decisions - like choosing the wrong friends, or figuring that one more drink won't hurt anything. It might include losing a job, facing a medical crisis, or fighting a war. Or it could start with growing up in a dysfunctional home, where physical, emotional, or sexual abuse is a way of life. What if you didn't grow up inside a home that had a white picket fence? Interested in learning more? Videos, worship materials, a Bible study and more are available at westohioumc.org/whitepicketfence. Conference staff are also available to present 'White Picket Fence' at churches.

Green building workshop for houses of worship
|
We're all tasked with using our church's funds wisely. By reducing the amount of money spent on heating, cooling, and lighting, we can direct more of our funds towards other needs. The Green Building Workshop will provide practical information on how to make your church more energy efficient and save on utility bills. Learn from industry experts how to determine, track, and reduce energy use, decide what to do first, determine what you can easily do yourself and utilize grants, low-cost loans and group discounts for energy audits, LED bulbs, and installations. Why join PAUMCS? |
Attending the Professional Association of United Methodist Church Secretaries (PAUMCS) conferences provides an opportunity for church administrative assistants and secretaries to share and receive information beneficial to their positions. But after attending three PAUMCS conferences, one West Ohio administrative assistant noticed even more benefits:
"During our last conference I received a spiritual breakthrough. It was the first time I really opened myself up to RECEIVE all of the love and care from my fellow sisters in Christ. Getting together annually with other church secretaries and administrative assistants allows us to receive love and support from one another. And when we open ourselves up to receive that love, it is so much easier to give it as well."
