Ohio mission team a part of one family's recovery

This video is about one family's recovery in New Jersey following Hurricane Sandy. Rick mentions people from Ohio coming to help and that team was led by David Tharpe of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Findlay.

Church merger empowers outreach 
Located in Springfield, Ohio, a city northeast of Dayton whose economy has seen better days, Faith United Methodist Church (UMC) was born from a merger of three churches, Central, Story-Hypes, and Lagonda UMC. Merger discussions took place over five years among seven United Methodist Churches, with the goal of creating a single church whose combined resources would enable it to effectively spread the gospel and serve neighbors throughout Springfield. Three of the congregations ultimately voted to become one church in 2009.  (read more)

Global AIDS Fund urges "Just Save One"

The United Methodist Global AIDS Fund (UMGAF) Committee asks local congregations to observe the 15th anniversary of World AIDS Day, December 1, by raising awareness of the HIV & AIDS crisis and committing to Just Save One child from contracting the disease. This year, December 1 lands on the first Sunday of Advent.UMGAF has developed resources to help churches observe World AIDS Day, including a First Sunday of Advent suggested order of worship, a four-week Advent Bible study and 40 Days of Prayers & Actions to Just Save One. United Theological Seminary offers Hispanic Christian Academy

The Hispanic Christian Academy (HCA), part of United's Center for Hispanic Ministry, is designed to impact the local church by equipping and training Hispanic leaders to serve as pastors, church planters, evangelists, missionaries and in other roles of ministry. It is a three-year Course of Ministry program taught online in Spanish. The basic curriculum includes: Bible, Theology, Church and Mission and Ministry. Click  here for brochure.

North Katanga Conference: Children's Home
Kamina Children's Home

You are invited to consider whether God is calling you to participate on a mission experience with our partners in the North Katanga Conference. The following three West Ohio teams are forming for 2014.  

Kamina Children's Home February 2014--Make a difference in the lives of children and youth who live at the Kamina Children's. Home.  

Medical Team June 2014--Work alongside United Methodist doctors to provide medical care to people in Kamina and Kabulo and provide training for North Katanga medical personnel. 

Training Team August 2014 --We have been invited to offer two tracts of training: Clergy leadership and Spiritual Formation for children and youth--particularly children at the Kamina Children's Home.   Informational Flyer

Rev. Carl V. Vorpe, retired, passed away on October 20, 2013 at the age of 84. A Celebration of Life Service was held October 23 at First United Church in Middletown with Rev. John Wagner officiating. Condolences will reach Carl's wife of 62 years, Barbara, at 120 Old Carriage Ct, Monroe, OH  45050.
