Before the first livestock stall is occupied, before the first ribbon is announced and before the first funnel cake is fried at the Muskingum County Blue Ribbon Fair, work for the Rolling Plains United Methodist Church fair stand is already in progress. It has been 50 years since the church's modest stand, which sold sandwiches, began selling the sweet corn that has made it a mainstay at the fair.

Visit your neighborhood fire and police stations

We take for granted that firefighters, police officers and public health workers will respond to an emergency on Sunday or any other day. Yet, have we thanked these public servants and acknowledged their contributions or visited those who sometimes risk their lives for us? Consider holding a special worship service or providing copies of Strength for Service to God and Community. Learn more.

I Stand Amazed (How Marvelous) - Chris Tomlin / Passion

The words and music of "I Stand Amazed" first appeared in E. O. Excell's collection, Praises (1905). The Rev. Carlton R. Young, editor of The United Methodist Hymnal, notes: "This song of gratitude and praise for the atoning death of Jesus is a personal and Adventist interpretation of Luke's account of Jesus' sweating blood in the Garden of Gethsemane, a portion of the passion narrative not included in the other Gospels."  Learn the history of this songwriter who also wrote the tunes for "His Eye Is On the Sparrow" and "Will the Circle Be Unbroken?"
