Conference awards student scholarships |
Eighteen students from congregations across the West Ohio Conference will receive Next Generations Leadership scholarships for the 2013-14 academic year. Through the generous donations received during United Methodist Student Day Special Sunday Offering and the faithful Connectional Giving of our local churches, the conference provides scholarships to qualified West Ohio undergrad students who are attending accredited institutions of higher education. 5K for a cause |
Between play practice, track meets and soccer games last spring, Christy Finney found time to organize her community for a 5K race to support Hurricane Sandy survivors through the work of the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR). Ms. Finney, 18, is a member of Urbana United Methodist Church and the congregation's youth group. "After seeing the devastating effects on the lives of people impacted by Hurricane Sandy," she said, "I decided I wanted to help them." Facebook Photo Gallery

Terry Heck to direct Harriet L. Miller Women's Center | 
United Theological Seminary has announced that the Rev. Terry Heck will become the Director of the Harriet L. Miller Women's Center. Rev. Heck is an ordained Elder in the West Ohio Conference, where she has served in pastoral ministry since 1990. Recently retired from ministry, Terry still serves in leadership in many capacities. She is a part-time Care Pastor at Ginghamsburg United Methodist Church; Assistant to the Superintendent of the Miami Valley District, and serves in leadership positions on several district, conference and denominational boards.
