New Conference Leaders Appointed | Bishop Palmer has announced the following appointments to Conference leadership:
Rev. Barbara Sholis to serve as Assistant to the Bishop, effective July 1, 2013. Rev. Sholis will follow Rev. Randy Stearns, who will begin a new appointment leading Faith Community United Methodist Church in the Ohio River Valley District in July. Read more...

West Ohio Designates New Historic Site at Otterbein |  One hundred years in the making, a celebration of history took place on the campus of Otterbein Lebanon April 10. The West Ohio Conference of The United Methodist Church has designated the site of Otterbein Senior Lifestyle Choices in Lebanon as an official historic site. The historic recognition program was attended by over 200 residents and families, Otterbein partners and board members, local community members, and leaders of the West Ohio Conference. Small Employer Health Care Tax Credit- Time is running out | May 15 is the deadline for filing for a small employer health care tax credit for 2012. In March we provided the message about this tax credit with details on completing the necessary IRS forms. The General Board of Pension and Health Benefits has also posted information on its website Small Business Health Care Tax Credit Updates. Disregard their references to HealthFlex as West Ohio does not participate in that program.

Mission Opportunities
| Cambodia Volunteers in Mission Team Planned for 2014 Leadership training will be the focus of a 2014 Cambodia VIM Team, which will spend two weeks in Southeast Asia from January 22-February 5. As part of developing leadership, the January 2014 VIM Team will hold a District Youth Rally for about 120 young people with the theme of "The Full Armor of God". They will also conduct several Bible studies based on this theme, along with daily workshops on issues these young Christians face in reconciling their faith with the challenges of today's multimedia culture. You are invited to join this team and experience the exuberant joy and faith of the Cambodian churches. For more information, click here
Congo Medical Mission Planned for Fall 2013 A West Ohio VIM medical team that will travel to the Congo in September or October of 2013 is now being formed. Serve in a United Methodist health clinic in Kamina and a UM hospital in Kabongo; train and work side-by-side with U.M. Congolese doctors, nurses, and nursing students; and help deliver an ultrasound machine and train the staff in its use for women's health. Professionals being sought for trip include: doctors, dentists, nurses, surgeons, gynecologists, medical assistants and a French speaking individual. For more information, click here

New! Associate Director of the Council on Development for the West Ohio Conference

The West Ohio Conference of The United Methodist Church has designed a new position that will be added to the Council on Development staff team. The "Associate Director" will equip local church to grow generous stewards to advance the mission and vision of the West Ohio Conference. The right candidate will have a deeply committed Christian faith consistent with the standards of The United Methodist Church-as well as vision, experience and outstanding expertise in stewardship, fundraising at multiple levels, planned giving and leadership to expand a development office.
