Hurricane Sandy relief efforts - Call for Cleaning Buckets

Cleaning Bucket Communities affected by Superstorm Sandy need our help. We can help by putting together cleaning buckets. A member of Northridge United Methodist Church has generously donated a truck and driver who will take collected buckets to the Midwest Distribution Center where they will be used to fill requests from affected Annual Conferences.  Here's what you can do.

  • Put together cleaning buckets by following the UMCOR instructions here

  •   Deliver completed buckets to a drop off location near you. A list of West Ohio drop off locations by district is available at westohioumc.org/disasterresponse or directly here.
  •  All kits should be at the drop off locations by 4:00 pm November 29, 2012.

  • If you are interested in helping to transport completed buckets to load on the semi in Springfield, please contact your district coordinator, listed at the bottom of the webpage at westohioumc.org/disasterresponse.

Thank you for your prayers and support for the millions of people impacted by Sandy. If you or your congregation would like to learn more about disaster response ministry and how you can be involved, please contact Mr. Scott Bowden, Conference Coordinator, at Bowden_scottd@yahoo.com or Dee Stickley-Miner, Director of Mission & Justice at dstickley@wocumc.org .

  • World AIDS Day - December 1

December 1st is World AIDS Day, when we remember the millions of people worldwide who are affected by HIV/AIDS. Consider taking this opportunity to invite members of your congregation to be in prayer for all those who are affected and infected by HIV/AIDS. The United Methodist Church is active around the world bringing hope and healing. We believe that together, we can stop the spread of HIV/AIDS. For worship and other resources regarding HIV/AIDS, visit the West Ohio Conference's AIDS Ministry web page  Additional Resources
