New at Morton!

Starting in September, Morton will be offering classes in Knitting with Cindi Hoffman where projects will include a buttoned cowl and socks. Sabrina Lastman will be offering private vocal instruction and classes that incorporate the Feldenkrais Method. Both instructors bring a lifetime of knowledge and experience to share with their students.

Tibetan Buddhist Monks Visit Lafayette

Friends of Bob music co-op presents Eric Lindell & Co., a soul, r&b band from New Orleans on Thursday, September 4 at the Lafayette Brewing Company.

Starry Night Music Festival

Starry Night will be held on September 13 and is an annual street festival in downtown West Lafayette that draws thousands of people with its unique blend of excellent music, a variety of merchants, interactive creativity, and food. Love & Death

September 13, 2014, 7:30 PM

Partnering with students from Purdue Theatre, the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra features pieces conveying the tragic romance of the renowned Shakespearian couple, Romeo and Juliet. This unique unveiling of the famous love story is accompanied with readings from Shakespeare's play by the dazzling Purdue Theatre students, as the orchestra presents Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet.

Also Featuring:Mozart-Don Giovanni Overture, Bernstein-Symphonic Dances from Westside Story, Tchaikovsky-Romeo and Juliet

"Landscapes in Paint and Pixels" at Artists' Own

Artists' Own Gallery will host a gallery show "Landscapes in Paint and Pixels" September 15 - October 25, with a reception during the Gallery Walk, September 19, 6-10 pm. Featuring palette knife paintings in oil by member Sandy Daniel and photography by former member Glenn Chang, the artists will explore the power, beauty, and influence of the landscape in their work.

WVWS Tuesday, September 16, 7:00pm at TAF, the program will be given by Janie Peters on matting and framing. 


October will be the annual WVWS juried show at TAF celebrating our 25th anniversary.

A calendar for 2015 is being produced featuring paintings by WVWS members. It will be available this fall.

Gallery Walk and Opening Reception at TAF


Join us and stroll through the streets of downtown Lafayette on Friday, September 19 from 6-9pm.  The local arts community collaborates with downtown businesses to highlight the arts and culture.  TAF will have an opening reception featuring: "I Arrange My World" by Lisa Parish Parker, "A Quilted Narration of Gaelic Folklore & Beyond" by Leanne McGiveron & Heather Vanderkleed, and "Ahead of the Curve" by Anita & Bill Krug. Current exhibition on display through September 12, featuring Rachel Witt, Art Cenacle, and Robin Coyner. A Fused Glass Workshop will be held Saturday the 20th at 1pm Cost is $15+.

September Tours at the Haan Mansion
Tour the Haan Museum on September 20 or 21 for a sneak peek at some wonderful ceramics by Indiana artists including Laura Fry, Karl Martz, Paul Soldner and prominent contemporary ceramic artists. The outstanding collection of important Indiana paintings by TC Steele, George Winter, and other important painters will be in place, along with Museum quality American antiques including massive grandfather clocks and orchestral music boxes.  $10 advance tickets and more information at haanmuseum.org.

Art on the Wabash, West Lafayette, September 21

Head for Tapawingo Park Sunday, September 21, 10am to 4pm, for the 9th annual Art on the Wabash, where 42 artists will exhibit and sell gourds, paintings, jewelry, wood items, pottery, photography and more. This event in a park setting, with free entry and free parking in Wabash Landing garage, is presented by the city of West Lafayette with assistance from Tippecanoe Arts Federation and sponsorship by KitchenArt - The Store for Cooks.

"The Retro Show" Call Out

The "2 Chic Art Gallery" in Delphi is accepting submissions for the September 26 exhibit, "The Retro Show".  Artists are encouraged to contact Gallery owners at 765.564.6242 or via email at [email protected] for information. An opening reception will be held. Other receptions and events will be scheduled throughout the month of October. Live music is a distinct possibility!

Artists should ask about the Gallery's "Business and Art Together" or "BAT" program. Participation is open.

Help Uncover Lew's Reflecting Pool 

On September 6-7 University of Indianapolis archaeologists will be working on the grounds of the General Lew Wallace Study & Museum. The public is invited to help uncover Lew's reflecting pool. Participation is free. On September 27 the museum is participating in Smithsonian Museum Day Live! along with several other Crawfordsville museums. Visitors may print a coupon from the Smithsonian Magazine website to get free admission to one museum.

Monticello Public Library Presents the Daniel Bennett Group
The Monticello Public Library is pleased to have the Daniel Bennett Group perform on Saturday,September 27 at 8 pm. New York saxophonist Daniel Bennett has been hailed as one of the most original and unpredictable musical voices of his generation. Designing An Abstract Painting with Acrylics and Tending To Your Soul-Meditations and Creating.
