September 2013 Newsletter

Dear Friends of Rabbit Haven,

The Auction is almost here!  Our main fund-raising event of the year, the Harbor Hop is guaranteed to be fun for everyone.  There'll be live auctions, silent auctions, dessert dash, dancing, mingling with fellow rabbit-lovers and special guest rabbits.  Among the fabulous auction items are hand-made chewable rabbit furniture, quilts, jewelry, wine, movie tickets, and much, much more.  Check out our Facebook page to see
photographs of many of the auction items, visit our
website for more information, click on PayPal to purchase your tickets and tell us what sort of burger you want, or mail a check and meal selection to PO Box 2268, Gig Harbor, WA 98335, but what ever you do, don't miss the Harbor Hop.  It's the lagomorph social event of the season!

Lollipop was the August 29 "Rabbit of the Day" at Northwest Spay & Neuter Center.
Thank you, Ebay Bidders!

Even though Northwest Spay & Neuter has very reasonable rates, getting our rabbits spayed and neutered is a huge expense for us at Rabbit Haven.  Expenses soared recently as our babies (result of pregnant moms being dropped off here) reached maturity.  So, we had an auction on eBay for naming rights of the babies.  Yet again, the wonderful friends of Rabbit Haven stepped up.  A special thanks to:  Elaine Bongiorno, Diane Fetzner, Pandora Moore, Rachel Nii Fahey and Susanne Regan.
The name "Rapunzel" certainly fits this lovely English lop.

Manny models bunny ears on an earlier ascent.
Manny's climbing again!

Our volunteer Manny is attempting a climb of Mt. Rainier on September 22nd (weather permitting!!) and she has agreed to wear parts of a bunny costume as we reach our funding goals. If we reach $150, Manny will wear bunny ears as she climbs Mt. Rainier; if we reach $300, Manny will wear bunny ears and a bunny tail; if we reach $500, Manny will wear bunny ears, a bunny tail, and bunny whiskers!  Visit indegogo to join in this fun way to support Rabbit Haven.  Thanks, Manny, good luck, and climb safely!

News flashes!

Steve's sister asked him to do a random act of kindness for her birthday gift. Steve chose to volunteer at and donate to Rabbit Haven. What a wonderful gift!

Darling Nell didn't bond well with another rabbit, so the adopter reluctantly returned her to Rabbit Haven.  At that very moment, these two wonderful people were visiting the barn, met Nell, fell in love with her, and adopted her on the spot.  Don't you just love happy endings?

Mud Bay of Gig Harbor invited us to visit for an Adoption Day in August.  Thanks, Mud Bay!

Caught in the act!  These lovely English lops adore bananas, as do many rabbits.  One day, while their run was being cleaned, they took advantage of the situation.  Wouldn't you love to adopt them and give them a life sentence in a forever home?
