Technical Difficulties
On Monday afternoon 90.9 FM WRAF suddenly went off the air. Eventually we were able to resume broadcasting using our "low power" back-up transmitter and antenna.
On Tuesday afternoon Marty Lee (WRAF's Chief Engineer) and his team were able to diagnose a problem with the coax cable. This is the line which carries the signal from the transmitter to the main antenna at the top of our tower on the Toccoa Falls College campus.
We are working hard to find a tower crew that can climb the tower, replace the damaged portion of the cable, and look for any additional issues. Pray that we can find a competent crew quickly. By the way, the individual who normally does a lot of tower work for us recently suffered a severe heart attack and remains in I.C.U. Please remember him in your prayers.
What does all this mean?
WRAF may be operating at less than 100% coverage for several weeks. By now I'm sure you've noticed that the strength and quality of the signal has been greatly diminished and in many areas can no longer be received.
Presently we have no reason to believe that this situation is anywhere near what we faced in 2009. That was when our donors helped us purchase a brand new antenna so we could return to broadcasting at 100,000 watts. As an aside, because of the generosity of WRAF listeners at that time we were able to purchase the back-up transmitter and antenna which now keeps us going. Thank you!
, we covet your prayers as our team works to restore WRAF to the quality signal to which you are accustom.
