Greetings!
Enhancing the potential of Teens with mental illness and/or drug and alcohol issues so that they can pursue educational opportunities is very complicated.
The school environment poses distinct challenges.
RCM specializes in working with TEENS and YOUTH whose needs are complex.
|
| HIGHEST RATE OF MENTAL ILLNESS: | |
|
According to Statistics Canada, teenagers and young adults aged 15-24 experience the highest incidence of mental disorders of any age group in Canada.
Mental illness and addiction are intertwined and exacerbate one another, this is far from new.
The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) estimates half of young people with mental illness also struggle with substance abuse.
Teens who need treatment for both, are very challenging.
Mental health professionals may feel it is out of their scope to deal with kids who also have drug or alcohol problems and vice versa.
But to treat them separately is counterproductive. It really doesn't work. Both issues must be addressed simultaneously because one drives the other.

|
Further compounding the shortage of treatment for Teens with these complex issues is the lack of co-ordination among services, which tend to serve a variety of age ranges.
This lack of co-ordination makes it a challenge for parents to find the most appropriate help for their kids.
RCM can co-ordinate all the services and find the best possible treatments and support for the TEEN and their family.
RCM recognizes the importance of treating the Whole Person.
RCM provides access to a national network of over 2,200 experts (TOP DOCS) in over 120 subspecialties and over 2,300 suppliers of expertise services.
When a parent formally engages RCM, our treatment plans include working with the family, the TEEN, and a multi-disciplinary team.
