PAIN(LESS!) Research with new Biosensis Reagents

Product Focus: TrpV1 (Capsaicin Receptor), TrkA and proNGF

Dear Doctor

Firstly, a big thank you to you! (Our customers) who have helped Biosensis to make 2014 its best year yet. Your strong, positive feedback on our new antibodies and Rapid™ ELISA Kits is greatly appreciated.

Biosensis is pleased to welcome you to our January 2015 edition of e-antibody solutions. In this newsletter we are highlighting exciting new antibodies and ELISA kits for your pain research; including NEW mouse monoclonal antibodies to capsaicin receptor TrpV1 (M-1714-100) and Tyrosine Kinase Receptor A (TrkA) (M-1719-100). Check out many other antibodies in our Sensory Neuron section here.

Western Blotting Made Easy (and Painless!) - With our New Monoclonal Antibodies
The Transient Receptor Potential Cation Channel V1 (TrpV1) is well known for its ability to mediate pain sensation elicited by capsaicin, the pungent ingredient in red hot chilli peppers. TrkA is best known as the receptor for Nerve Growth Factor (NGF), and its role in nociceptive neurons is primarily to mediate chronic pain. Not surprisingly, development of drugs to neutralize NGF is in focus within the pharmaceutical industry (Holmes, 2012).

Biosensis has now released NEW validated, specific and sensitive mouse monoclonal antibodies to TrpV1 (M-1714-100) and TrkA (M-1719-100). These antibodies are excellent for detecting your protein of interest on Western Blots with confidence!

Mouse monoclonal antibody to rat capsaicin receptor (VR1; TRPV1), [Clone BS397]: IgG

M-1714-100
Western blot with monoclonal antibody to capsaicin receptor (M-1714-100). Left image: M-1714-100 detects TrpV1 protein at 95-100 kDa in PC12 cell lysates (80 μg/lane).
Right image: TrpV1 in cell lysates of forskolin and NGF stimulated 50B11 hybrid mouse x rat DRG cell lines and NGF-stimulated PC12 cells (10 μg/lane). M-1714-100 detects monomeric TrpV1 protein at 95-100 kDa.

Mouse monoclonal antibody to Tyrosine Kinase Receptor A (TrkA), [Clone BS292]: IgG

M-1719-100
Western blot with monoclonal antibody to TrkA (M-1719-100). Left image:
M-1719-100 detects glycosylated TrkA full-length protein at ≈ 140 kDa in rat PC12 cell lysates (64 μg/lane). Right image: Under certain conditions, PC12 cells may contain a TrkA-specific isoform of glycosylated TrkA (110 kDa) and an intracellular cleavage product (41 kDa) as described by (Cabrera et al., 1996) and (Rossi et al., 2002). M-1719-100
is an excellent antibody to use on western blotting for human, rat, and mouse samples!
NGF, proNGF and Pain - Measure Neurotrophin Levels Reliably with our Rapid™ ELISA kits!

While a prominent role for mature NGF in pain has been firmly established, the biological actions of the precursor molecule proNGF have been elusive. This is partly due to lack of reagents that allow differentiating between mature and full-length NGF protein. In addition to our established NGF Rapid™ ELISA kit (BEK-2212), the arrival of our NEW specific, sensitive and fast Human proNGF Rapid™ ELISA (BEK-2226) kit gives you the opportunity to look into the distinct roles of NGF and proNGF in pain pathways.

Our newly released proNGF Rapid™ ELISA kit (BEK-2226) has been developed to specifically detect human proNGF, it does not detect mature NGF and other neurotrophins. In combination with our NGF Rapid™ ELISA kit (BEK-2212) which does NOT cross-react with proNGF protein, these kits provide you fantastic new tools for your research. Enquire today!
