New York, New York!
Inspiration is everywhere if you're open to it, but sometimes you have to leave town to wake your senses up. For the 30 women who participated in this year's tour, NYC was just the muse to excite, ignite and kick start the creative side of our professional and personal lives. As Jay-z and Alicia Keyes sing in one of my favorite songs, Empire State of Mind, "New York... these streets will make you feel brand new, the lights will inspire you, like there's nothing you can't do." Creativity was the theme of 2013's WithIt New York sign trip, which concluded on Monday, May 21. We all had many 'creative captures' along the way, but because this newsletter cannot contain all of the photos, we've set up our very first WithIt NYC Design Tour Pinterest page. Wondering what you missed? Here are some of the highlights: Private cocktail party with Pamela Ryckman, author of Stiletto Network (all attendees got a chance to talk with Pamela and get their own autographed copy of her book right before she hit the Today Show and NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams) Trip to the Metropolitan Museum: Many saw the new exhibit: Punk: Chaos to Couture, highlighting punk's impact on high fashion staring in the early 1970s and continuing through today or the recently concluded exhibit, Impressionism, Fashion and Modernity Kips Bay show house International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) Retail shopping tour with Madcap Cottage's Jason Oliver Nixon (with goodie bags and wine along the way - thanks!) Tour of the Good Housekeeping Institute Tour of Tinsel Trading, an amazing store Trend presentation and great lunch (thanks!) at the Global Views showroom Marketing and Branding Class with Apartment Therapy and amazing chocolates and cheeses (thanks!) Dinner at the National Arts Club One on One with interior designer and author, Celerie Kemble, including book signing Visit to terraced apartment of artist, Barbara Krohn, friend of WithIt, who offered up amazing views of the NYC nightlight and a walk through the exclusive locked Gramercy Park. Treats along the way, two autographed books, new friends, lots of laughs and inspiration! This tour wouldn't happen without the amazing hard work from Betty Lyn Eller and Jana Platina-Phipps, our NYC Design Tour co-chairs. Many thanks to Betty Lyn, Jana, Alicia Connolly and Deborah Klein and our wonderful sponsors. Want to live vicariously a little more?
