Sharon Leighton Consultancy                          December 2012

Greetings!

Where did 2012 go?  We say that every year, I know, but it always feels the same.  I'm sure many of you have risen to the challenges you've faced in your professional and personal lives.

2013 Plans
A Welsh Winter Wonderland
Snow scene on the Kymin, Monmouth.
It's been a busy, interesting time for the consultancy & training.  Watch out for some greattraining programmes coming up in 2013!  Although I do plan and research suitable topics, the best ones come from identifying a need or yearning.

This was the year that I really embraced mindfulness, thanks to my very talented mentor, Sue Weston.  When we lead busy, stressful lives, being grounded and feeling that you can cope with anything (yes, I do mean anything) can make the difference between feeling like you are just surviving versus really enjoying life.  So I plan to host a Coping With Corporate Life: A Mindfulness Approach workshop here in the lush Welsh hills of Monmouth on 1 - 3rd March 2013.  Mindfulness has become very popular for its mental health effects (depression, anxiety, etc) so I find that my friends & colleagues are more curious rather than sceptical.

Watch out for my 2013 programme and highlights of 2012 in January newsletter!

So I wish you all a well-deserved rest if you are celebrating the holiday period.  May you find peace and happiness.

From my blog ... Happy 20th Birthday SMS

Happy birthday SMS! Is there a place for SMS in Med Info?

So the 1st text message (SMS) was sent today (3rd December 2012) 20 years ago. Like many inventions, the true value emerged rather than being born fully identified. Until the technology existed within a critical mass of customers to use SMS, uptake was restricted. Now we wouldn't be without SMS, even if it's just to make appointments or say we're running late.

Hardly a major public event goes by these days without a rush of conversations taking place across social media channels like Twitter and Facebook.
White Paper: One Voice for Medical

Jointly ran a great webinar on managing #medinfo multilingual content with Matthias Heyn from SDL. Recording available if you missed it - just let me know & I'll send the link.

Balancing globally consistent answers against local multilingual needs. Providing common regulatory labeling, clinical data and product information is a guiding principle of medical communication in the pharmaceutical industry.

SharonWho am I?

After leaving corporate life 6 years ago, I set up my own Medical Affairs consultancy and training business, believing that there wasn't much demand for either service.  Luckily, I proved myself wrong and now have a long client list from many large and small pharmaceutical companies.  I'm passionate about my business, Medical Information, social media, information to patients and all things geek.

I help busy managers succeed in their goals by
  • managing projects
  • training their staff on MI practice and leadership
  • mentoring managers new to Medical Information or Medical Affairs
  • helping them restructure their business

And now we build tools to monitor your customer's perceptions of your service.  You name it, I can probably do it.
