The Coalition for Vocational Technical Education is a newly formed group of business groups, educators and community-based organizations across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The Coalition formed in January 2015 with support from the SkillWorks Funders Group and several business, community and education partners to increase vocational technical education opportunities for students throughout the state, support training for skilled entry level employees for businesses across Massachusetts, recommend policies to reduce current waiting lists and increase capacity for high demand vocational technical education programs, promote vocational technical education as a pathway to college and career and improve resources for vocational technical education schools and programs.
The Coalition recently contracted with Northeastern University's Dukakis Center to design a survey of current and potential beneficiaries of vocational-technical educational programs in Massachusetts, including employers, school administrators, students, graduates and parents and the community at large.
Based on the survey results, the Dukakis Center will publish a report intended to help us better understand the current condition and potential of our state's vocational technical education system.
