 Indiana Primary election results
Hoosier voters went to the polls on Tuesday, May 3, to participate in the primary election. While the most anticipated results may have revolved around the presidential and congressional races, there were several close state legislative votes. Two Republican incumbents in the Statehouse were defeated in the primary: Sen. Pete Miller in Hendricks County and Rep. Casey Cox in Allen County.

 Voters approve referenda
Eight of ten schools in the following counties will have additional local tax revenue to support schools because of successful referenda:
- Allen (Fort Wayne Community Schools and MSD of Southwest Allen),
- Brown,
- Hamilton (Hamilton Southeastern and Noblesville),
- LaPorte and St. Joseph (New Prairie),
- Marion (Speedway),
- Wells (Southern Wells)

Legislative Study Committees on the Calendar
During the legislative session many interim study committee topics are recommended by the General Assembly. These committees provide legislators with more information on certain topics such as redistricting, immigration and more. The meetings allow experts in the field and state agencies to share information about the current state of certain issues in Indiana. Upcoming committee meetings include:

This free event allows community leaders and stakeholders to come together to understand the business case for investment in early childhood and ways to develop and sustain an early learning coalition in your community. Business Entity Report filings change
To do business in the State of Indiana, nonprofits must file a business entity report with the Indiana Secretary of State. Effective July 1, the schedule moves to a biennial filing. Fees will increase from $10 to $20. It is important that nonprofits keep this important task on their radar, as eligibility for certain grants is dependent upon up-to-date filings. Submitting comments during rulemaking periods is an important way to shape policy. State and federal agencies appreciate specific comments about possible impacts and ways to improve proposed rules. Below are a few open comment periods:
- FSSA, Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Services - related to rate changes for providers of Community Based Integration and Habilitation (CIH) waiver and Family Supports waiver. See announcement. Deadline: 5/12/16.
