BPA's education programs are committed to building on student strengths, teaching new skills, and providing a positive, safe environment where students of any age can grow both artistically and personally, all while having fun!

 

BPA is thrilled to welcome ZANDI CARLSON as the new Director of Education and instructor for several of our fall classes! In addition to working at BPA, Zandi has taught for Seattle Children's Theatre, Seattle Shakespeare Company, Youth Theatre Northwest, and Taproot Theatre. She holds a BFA in Acting from Oklahoma City University.

FALL CLASSES

Join us for an all-new weekly journey into a world of discovery as each day's adventure
builds onto a session-long story that students create and act out.

 

Ages 3 1/2 - 5: IMAGINATION STATION

Students learn how the body, mind, and voice can be used to tell a story through the
use of games, stories, and songs.

 

Ages 3 1/2 - 5: STORY DRAMA  

Great children's books serve as launch pads for dramatic adventures, in which students
learn to engage all of their senses.

 

 Grades 2 - 3: ACTING I  

Students delve into acting exercises that will help them grow as actors from the inside out.

 

 Grades 4 - 7: ACTING II  

Students take their acting skills to the next level with this intermediate acting class.

 

 Ages 9 - 16: HOME SCHOOL ACTING CLASS  

Students grow their acting skills in this class designed to strengthen imagination,
voice, social skills, and body awareness.

 

 Grades 4 & up: GROUP VOICE  

Students delve into vocal exercises, solo singing, and part singing
that will help them to grow as vocalists.

 

 Grades 4 & up: THEATRE DANCE  

This essential dance class focuses on those basic jazz and ballet steps
that every actor needs to know.

 

 Grades 8 - 12: TEEN INTENSIVE  

Students this quarter will develop a tool kit to prepare them
for Mainstage and professional auditions.

Julia Beers 
JULIA BEERS is instructor for Youth Theatre Production II and co-instructor for Story Drama. She has previously taught with 
Stone Soup Theatre, Ear to the Ground Theatre, and Lucia Neare's Theatrical Wonders. Julia holds a BA in Theatre from Whitman College, and actively continues her training through Freehold Theatre Studio in Seattle and the Michael Chekhov Association in New York.

 

Rachael LeValley
RACHAEL LEVALLEY is an instructor for Creative Drama and Acting II. She has a BA in Theatre from Western Washington University. She completed the Seattle Children's Theatre apprenticeship program this past school year and had the opportunity to work as a Drama School faculty member at SCT this past summer.

FREE STORY DRAMA WORKSHOP 

Tuesday, September 2 @ 4:00 p.m. at BPA  

 

Join Director of Education, Zandi Carlson, as we explore the charming book Little Owl Lost by Chris Haughton. Parents and students ages 3 1/2 - 5 can use their bodies and imagination to explore the world of the story. This is a one-time free workshop to introduce families to the wonders of Story Drama. Please email Zandi Carlson to reserve your free spot in the workshop.
