THE PROGRAM
Nature has always been a great inspiration for composers. Vysehrad is the first of a cycle of symphonic poems paying homage to the people and culture of Bedřich Smetana's native Bohemia. Likewise, Beethoven's Sixth Symphony, the "Pastoral," takes listeners on a journey through the Germany countryside, past a babbling brook, into a rainstorm, and ends with an atmosphere of peace and tranquility. Don't miss the incredible beauty and fearless technique of cellist Elizabeth Lee who will perform two works for cello and orchestra by Respighi and Tchaikovsky.
BSO HISTORY
