Sarah Mattox

Sarah Mattox, mezzo-soprano, is a founding member and composer for TangleTown Trio, a group specializing in accessible new music in a chamber setting, as well as classical crossover music. The group's first album, Song Nouveau, has been broadcast internationally to critical acclaim, and is lauded for its "...original music, captivating stories, and virtuosic performances."

The Program
One of Tchaikovsky's most endearing gifts was his penchant for melody. Tchaikovsky's Fifth Symphony is a virtual bounty of intoxicating themes including the second movement's famous melody for French Horn. Berlioz's six songs for mezzo soprano, Les nuits d'ete (Summer Nights), radiate tenderness, sensuality, and like Tchaikovsky, gives voice to inspired melodies. Aaron Copland's Outdoor Overture opens the program with spirited brass playing an invigorating rhythm. This work provides the perfect tone for our 40th Anniversary.

BSO History
The Bainbridge Orchestra was founded in 1972 by the late David Pence, when the Island's population was less than 13,000. It was adopted under the BPA umbrella in the spring of 1993 and changed its name to the Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra in 2006.
