The Roaring Fork Transportation Authority contract was secured through a competitive procurement agreement and reinforces Trillium's position as a market leader in the important transit sector. The Roaring Fork Transportation Authority has been in operation since 1983, and functions as a Regional Transportation Authority. In July 2012, RFTA was recognized by the White House as part of the Transportation Innovators 'Champions of Change" ; highlighting their construction of VelociRFTA, the first rural bus rapid transit system in the country. The new system will operate with CNG buses and will connect five towns from Glenwood Springs to Aspen, Colorado.
