SVBCC "GOES MOBILE"!
with Intelli-Touch Apps (ITA)

Starting in June 2014, The Silicon Valley Black Chamber of Commerce will go mobile with a one of a kind e-Mobile Directory. Below is the interview of the design team for Intelli-Touch Apps, designers of the communication platform the chamber will use.Mobile

What is this New Mobile Platform for the Chamber?

It's a national or even global, mobile communication platform, set up through directories, which can be divided or connected by state, local regions or chambers. The platform can be accessed by any smart device, your desktop, your laptop, your tablet or phone. Tools within the platform, made available through a special Toolbar, enable businesses within these directories to offer discounts, advertising, coupons, and surveys in a private unobtrusive way.

What's so good about it and why is this important to my business?

One of the most powerful tools in the toolbar is ITA's Mobile e-Business Card that can be personally customized. In addition to one touch convenience for calling, emailing, texting, or going to a web address, ITA's Mobile e-Business Card will be able to talk and play recorded vignettes customize to say whatever you want to convey.

Imagine your business card talking to a customer. Imagine your own commercial on your business card. With ITA's Mobile e-Business Card customized for your business, now you have it.

How does it work?

By using mobile directories. The directory is the foundation for everything. The directory is where the business-to-business (B2B) and business to consumer (B2C) contacts are being made and that's the engine that drives everything. Businesses are looking to do business with other businesses. Consumers are trying to find reputable businesses to fill their needs. Businesses are trying to offer consumers deals and the Chamber is uniquely positioned and recognized as THE location for local businesses.

When is it going to be Ready?

The B2B Mobile Services Platform Alpha Release will be available only to the Silicon Valley Black Chamber of Commerce in June 2014.  Other chambers are in line to receive their release in August of 2014. The Silicon Valley Black Chamber of Commerce is the first chamber of commerce to have a global, mobile directory with e-business cards in the world.

What does it cost?

The platform is provided to the SVBCC for Free because it's paid for by enrolled sponsors.  Chamber Members will also be enrolled for FREE. Additional options on a variety of upgrades ranging from $1 to $20 will be available. Some of these options will be a one-time purchase while others will be offered by monthly subscription. All are designed so members can decide how to best promote and grow their businesses.

Why is this important to the Chamber?

The Chamber itself will be able to use these tools for education, notification of contract opportunities, attracting membership, and even event planning and much, much more. Surveys can provide the Chamber with real time information on important chamber matters. The chamber's ability to offer businesses this opportunity to promote and grow their businesses using this platform is going to be game changing.

How can I participate and what do I need to do?

You simply subscribe to be put on the e-Mobile directory by inputting your name and cell number. The size of the chamber's directory is a major driving force when it comes to sponsors. Sponsors and advertisers are trying to reach as many people as they can and the bigger the directory, the better. So it's very important that the chamber and its members get involved with building their directory.

Did you know the City of San Jose has a Local Purchasing Preference Program?

The City of San Jose grants local small businesses (those with 35 or fewer employees) a 5% price preference in the awarding of city contracts. For services provided through a request-for-proposal (RFP) process, local small businesses receive a 10% point advantage. (Local businesses of all sizes also receive a 2.5% preference, but the city defines a "local" business as any business with a location in Santa Clara County.)

This information was provided to the chamber by Charles "Chappie" Jones who is running for the District 1 seat. "Chappie" Jones actually helped champion the above preference recommendation.
