Principal's Message
This evening in our library at 7 pm, WCSD Curriculum Director Lisa Cheney will be hosting a meeting to discuss the new state testing all students will be participating in this year.  All testing will be on computers and at WCI it will take each grade level one week to complete.  8th graders will be testing the week of April 13th - 17th, 7th graders the week of April 20th - 24th, and 6th graders the week of April 27th - May 1st.  If your 8th grader has a scheduled appointment with their Las Lomas counselor that week conflicting with the testing, Las Lomas will be contacting you to reschedule.  More details about testing will be coming as we approach the dates.

Have a fantastic rest of the week.

Calling All 7th & 8th Grade Parents
The final 7th and 8th grade dance of this school year is near.  It is Friday March 6th, the fun is scheduled for 6:30pm-8:30pm.  We need lots of help to make this dance a success.  We need Chaperone's, Coat Check's, and people to donate snacks for the dancers.  Please consider Chaperoning or Coat Checking, it is a great way to see what a WCI dance is like.  Please click here and sign up.  If you need additional information, please email Cathy Mauger or call 330-6997.  Your help is needed and appreciated.

Our Jazz Band participated in the Campana Jazz Festival at Amador Valley High School last Saturday, February 14 and won 1st place out of 10 Middle Schools in their division. In addition, our rhythm section was awarded 1st place Middle School section and our saxophone section was awarded 3rd place Middle School section. Robby U and Grant H earned Outstanding Musicianship Awards and Breanna K was awarded a scholarship to San Jose in the City Music Camp.

Off to Monterey: I submitted a performance audition application of our WCI Jazzers to the national Next Generations Jazz Festival competition held in Monterey the weekend of March 27 - 29, 2015 and was recently notified that we are 1 of 6 middle school jazz bands to have been accepted as finalists at this year's Next Gen Festival. Touch the Wall Documentary
Dewing Park Swim Team is excited to bring a screening of Touch the Wall to Century Theaters in Walnut Creek on Monday, March 16th at 5:30pm..

Touch the Wall is the story of two amazing women and their journey to swimming's highest stage the 2012 London Olympics.  The young phenom, Missy Franklin, is just beginning her career and is saddled with mile-high expectations; the veteran, Kara Lynn Joyce, is trying to rediscover the juice that took her to the previous two Olympics.  Touch the Wall is a story of winning and losing, of commitment and triumph through adversity.  It's also a story of family, of loving what you do and having fun with the people around you.  In a world starved for heroes, Missy and Kara stand tall in Touch the Wall.
