| Principal's Message | Thank you so much to all of the staff, parents and students who helped clean our campus and library materials last weekend. Everyone worked extremely hard and the campus is looking great.
Next week WCI will be hosting two community events. On Monday, October 6th at 7 pm in the WCI Multi-Use room, the governing board will be meeting to receive community input on Dorris Eaton school for the 2015-2016 school year. On Tuesday, October 7th at 7 pm in the Library, WCI will be hosting a candidate forum for the upcoming school board election. We hope to see your presence at these events.

Fund Raiser for Las Lomas Girls Volleyball
|
The Las Lomas girls volleyball team will be having a fund raiser all day Oct 8th at Pinkies Pizza. It's easy to help support the team. All you need to do is enjoy some great pizza at Pinkies any time on Oct 8th and make sure to mention that you are a supporter of Las Lomas girls volleyball. This works for dine in, take out and even delivery. Pinkies will donate a percentage of whatever our supporters spend back to the team. Pinkies is located at 2085 N. Broadway across the street from the post office and their phone number is 939-5000. So go enjoy some pizza next Wednesday and make sure you tell them that you are a supporter of Las Lomas girls volleyball.

Bring the theme to life!
Students can draw, paint, take a photo, write a story or make a video that captures the magic of a monent in their lives! Students' work will have a chance to advance to a District, State and even National level.

Creek Kids Care
|
The WCI branch of Creek Kids Care will hold its second meeting of the school year on October 8 at 8:30 am in room 305 (Ms. Stewart's classroom). All WCI kids are encouraged to participate in this fun and worthwhile club. Creek Kids Care is a local nonprofit of kids and teens working together to benefit the Trinity Center (serving our local homeless community) and the Mother of Peace orphanage in Zimbabwe. Details about the organization can be found at www.creekkids.org. In addition to the October 8 meeting, the club will meet on these dates: October 29, November 19, December 10, January 14, February 4, February 25, March 11, March 25, April 15, May 13, and June 3. Boxtops for Education

A big welcome to the sixth grade students and their parents! Now that your child is at WCI, you may be wondering what to do with all those Box Top coupons. Please keep collecting them, and just have your child drop them off in the library. There is a Box Top receptacle on the counter just waiting to be filled! All the monies earned buys new books for our wonderful library - what a great way to start another school year! There will be another Box Top contest with Target gift cards for the three students who turn in the most box top coupons! The contest will run from Monday, September 15, through Friday, October 24. The contest rules will be posted in the library next to the Box Top receptacle. Our goal is to collect LOTS of box top coupons - and we can do that with your help! And, of course, a big thank you to all the students (and their parents!) for their continuing support on behalf of the WCI library. |
8th Grade DC/NY Trip 2015

Attention all 8th grade families. Sign up now for the Washington DC & New York City 8th grade trip and save before the price increases. We will be voting soon on the Broadway play that we will be seeing in NY, don't miss out on being able to cast your vote! The trip will be taking place from June 26, 2015 - July 1, 2015. The WCI PTA publishes the eNewsletter every Wednesday. Our goal is to provide information to the WCI community in a timely manner. If you have an article to contribute email it to Susan Heitmann at wcienews@yahoo.com. Please limit articles to 150 words or less. The deadline is every Sunday at 6pm. For community announcements (non WCI specific submissions) please review the community section guidelines for approval by the Walnut Creek School District.
