Volunteer Opportunities
|
Have you often heard that once your child gets to middle school, they don't need you to volunteer anymore?? Well, that's not true! At WCI we have a variety of ways you can get involved! Below are brief descriptions of some open positions we have right now. 6th Grade Parent Reps. - This is a lighter version of being an elementary school "room parent". It is a job usually done by 2 people and involves coordinating the two 6th grade social events of the year - skate nights - as well as the end of the year social studies curriculum event (Greco-Roman Day). Governing Board Rep. - The governing board representative to the PTA attends governing board meetings whenever available - they are two Mondays a month - and reports back to the PTA. Health and Safety Chair - This person coordinates with the Vice Principal to schedule volunteers for help district nurse with various student health screenings. No medical knowledge required, it's just keeping an eye on students when they are waiting to see the nurse. Reflections Chair - This position is needed ASAP as our annual PTA Reflections Art Program comes up quickly in September/October. If you are an artistic type, this job is for you! Parent Education Chair - We haven't had a Parent Ed. Chair in a couple of years and we would love to have one. This person would work with the Principal to bring a few parent education events to WCI each year. PTA Parliamentarian - This is a really important role that we still need filled on our Executive Board. The Parliamentarian helps with our By Law Updates as well as oversees procedures for the PTA. If you have any interest, please email Julie Gibson at jagibson@astound.net and I will point you in the right direction!

Cafeteria Help
|
What better way to see what's going on at school than to help in the cafeteria during the first 4 days! It's always a crazy time while the kids learn to remember lunch numbers and locker codes and our dedicated cafeteria employees could really use your to help the line move along! We need to provide help during both the first lunch and second lunch and you will have a short break in between. We need 4 volunteers per day for the following dates and times:
Wednesday, 8/27/14: 12:00 - 1:30
Thursday, 8/28, Friday, 8/29, Tuesday, 9/2: 11:25am - 1:10pm
When you arrive for your shift, please check in at the office and head over to the cafeteria and the staff will direct you. If you can help, please email Nancy Martinucci at nucci4@comcast.net with your availability and any questions you may have. You can work one day or all four! Thank you for helping us get the new school year off to a smooth start!
