Principal's Message
8th graders will be doing STAR testing next week in the area of science only.  This is the only grade level and subject that STAR testing will take place.  8th graders will test in their regular science period Tuesday, May 6th and Wednesday, May 7th.  Make up days will be May 8th and 9th.  Please make sure students get a good night of rest and good meals before STAR testing.  You can contact Dayna Wagner at dwagner@wcsd.k12.ca.us if you have any questions about the STAR test.

Have a great week.

President's Message
Congratulations to our 2014 Honorary Service Award recipients. We had a wonderful celebration in their honor last week.  Thank you so much to Aimee Moss and Ellen Schuler for putting together this lovely event.

Please remember to support Measure A! Ballots are due May 6th. Read below for more information.

Measure A

MAIL IN YOUR BALLOT TODAY!

Moraga had to try to pass their vote TWICE - simply because not enough parents voted the first time.  That's time & money that would be better spent on our kids.

As you probably know, voter participation is public record - and it turns out that parents, our kids' biggest supporters - didn't think it was worth the time to send in their YES ballot.

EVERY vote counts!!

Why YES on Measure A?

Because our support for our schools makes all the difference.  This vote affects $3.9 MILLION in annual school support.

Sacramento won't step up. Instead, programs will be cut, teachers affected and class sizes increased if Measure A doesn't pass.

Don't Let It Happen!

Without raising taxes, Measure A will continue to provide ongoing, local funding to our local high schools - Acalanes, Campolindo, Las Lomas and Miramonte.

Vote YES and send in your ballot today! Ballots must be received by May 6th. This is a mail ballot only election! No polling places, and postmarks don't count.

School Site Council Volunteers Needed
Dear WCI School Community and Incoming Fifth Grade Parents;

Our School Site Council elections for new parent representatives will take place on-line.  We have one parent representative opening for terms beginning in the 2014/15 school year.

WCI's SSC is a group consisting of teachers, parents, administrators, students, and classified staff that studies important school-wide issues and determines how budgets are developed.

If you are interested in serving on the SSC, please submit your name and a short bio to Paula Wagner at soccermom@astound.net by May 5th.
8th Grade Civil War Day Volunteers Needed
Can you come help us on May 30 for the annual Civil War Day?  Civil War day is a half day event where students experience what is was like to be a soldier During the Civil War.  This is a very memorable event but it takes a great deal of parent volunteers.

May 13 at 7:00 pm Parent volunteer meeting
May 15 at 7:00 pm Ammo making night
May 30 8:30 am-12:30 pm Civil War Day

Please follow this link to sign up.
