Principal's Message
This week many students will begin the new Smarter Balanced field test. Before spring break you should have received detailed information about the new testing through an e-mail. As a reminder, this is a field test only and no student will be receiving results (schools will not receive the results either). This year is to work out any issues Smarter Balance may have and prepare students for next year when they will receive results. At WCI, 6th and 7th graders will be testing during their core classes and 8th graders will be testing during their history class.
The week of May 5th, 8th graders will still be talking the "old" STAR test in Science only. These results will be mailed to you like they always have in the past.
Please feel free to contact me anytime with questions around any of the new or old testing.
I hope everyone had wonderful Spring Break.

President's Message
I hope everyone enjoyed a fun and safe spring break! With the start of the 4th quarter of school upon us, at my house it feels like the countdown to summer has begun! With that, there are always many end-of-year activities to help out with at WCI. So, please be on the look out when you read your enews for volunteer opportunities coming up in the next couple of months.
Please join us on Wednesday, April 23rd, at 7:00pm in the Library to recognize individuals who have had a positive impact on our school this year! We will be holding our annual PTA Honorary Service Awards Celebration to say "thank you" to the wonderful WCI community members who are being honored this year.
Have a great week and enjoy this awesome warm weather! Julie Gibson
WCI PTA President

Book Fair Thanks
The WCI Book Fair was a success! The proceeds from the book fair will go towards new books for our WCI Library. I want to thank all the students, their parents and teachers who supported the Book Fair. A special shout-out goes to Mr. Phillips's PE class who helped move shelves and unload boxes of books on setup day. Thank you to WCEF who generously provided cookies and lemonade on Science Fair night. Last but not least, thank you to all our wonderful Book Fair volunteers, without who the Book Fair wouldn't run as smoothly or be as enjoyable.

Book Fair Coordinator

More details can be found on the flyer attached to this newsletter and on the Creek Kids website.

Box Tops For Education
Now that spring break is over, it's time once again to round up all those box top coupons and have your child bring them into the library. Unlike an Easter basket full of candy, a full box top receptacle has no calories - just those little coupons that add up to more money for our wonderful library! Anne Woods at shepwoods@comcast.net thanks everyone for their continued support on behalf of our library.
