Principal's Message
Congratulations to all Odyssey of the Mind team members who participated in the SF Bay Area tournament at Concord High this past weekend.  All teams enjoyed their time in the competition and WCI will have one team moving to the state level.  Thanks to Ms. Stewart and all of our parent coaches who make this possible.

Also, WCEF is nearing it's annual goal.  Please look at their article this week, any amount of support to WCEF is appreciated and benefits all students.

Have a great week.

Mike Cannon

President's Message
Please join us two weeks from tonight, March 19th at 7:00pm, in the WCI Library for our PTA meeting.  At this meeting, Matt Campbell, Las Lomas Principal, will be coming to talk about the transition to high school.  If you're a parent of an 8th grader - you won't want to miss it!  Come hear what Mr. Campbell has to say and feel free to bring your questions for him.  Also at this meeting, we will be holding the elections for our 2014-2015 PTA Executive Board and hearing from a representative from the Acalanes Union High School District Measure A Campaign.  Click here to see the agenda.

Have a great week!

$10,000 TO GO! Only 4 Weeks Left: WCEF March Update
  •  We have raised $667,000. Thank you to all who have made your 2013-2014 WCEF donation!
  • We are $10,000 away from meeting our funded commitments for this school year. It is important for all our families to contribute in any amount that works best for them.
  • 32% of our families have donated - if you are in the 68% that haven't made your donation, there is still time
to make your 2013-2014 tax-deductible donation. Please consider making it today! Your donation is needed now to meet this year's program, staff and materials funding needs; our students are counting on all of us! Donate today!
  • Join our SUSTAINABLE DONOR PROGRAM: WCEF is launching a new way to make your donation which will help secure ongoing funding and assist parents by spreading their payments to WCEF out over the course of the year. Many families are taking advantage of this online giving plan and setting up monthly deductions that are ongoing for the duration that your child is in school (setting up 12 and 24 months of giving at a time depending on the expiration date on your credit card).  For more information please contact Liz Davis at eadavisus@yahoo.com / 925.933.9233.

7th and 8th Grade Dance
The next 7th & 8th grade dance will be held on Friday, March 14th, from 6:30-8:30 in the WCI Gym.

WE NEED PARENT VOLUNTEERS TO MAKE THIS A SUCCESSFUL DANCE FOR THE 7TH & 8TH GRADE STUDENTS!!!

We need parents in three ways:

ONE...as BAKERS
We can NEVER have enough snacks for the kids.  We are looking for at least 20 parents to bring 2-3 dozen cookies or brownies, or health snacks such as pretzels, crackers or fruit (bite-sized please).  All snacks need to be provided in disposable containers and dropped off at the office by 12:00 on Friday, March 14th (labeled "school dance") OR delivered to gym by 5:45 on March 14th.

TWO...as CHAPERONES
Our job as chaperones is very simple!  Chaperones need to arrive at WCI by 5:45 and plan to stay until 8:45.  Duties include checking the kids into the dance and chaperoning the dance & refreshment areas.  NO set-up or clean-up is required!!!  ALSO, NO DISCIPLINING is required!  As chaperones, we are there as extra sets of eyes.  Should any student behavior require attention, chaperones will need to let the administrators know--they will handle it!  We need 8-10 parents to volunteer as chaperones.

THREE...as COAT CHECKERS if raining.

We need 2-3 parents to check in and check out students' coats and other belongings and use a numbered system to keep them organized in the weight room during the dance.  Please arrive at WCI by 6:00 and plan to stay until 8:45.

Please click here to sign up.

Contact Vera Caulfield for questions.  Thank you!
