Principal's Message
This week we officially welcomed our new vice principal, Leah Dubinsky, and our new counselor, Emily Foster, to WCI.  Students should have seen them around campus this week and hopefully know their faces by now.  As a general guideline, Mrs. Dubinsky will be handling students will the last name A-K and Mrs. Foster will be handling students with the last name of L-Z.

February 14th, 17th and 18th are no student days at WCI.  We will see students back here on the 19th.

Have a fun and safe extended holiday weekend.

Our next PTA meeting is one week from today, February 19th at 7:00pm.  At this meeting, we will be hearing from our Superintendent, Dr. Patty Wool, who will speak about the school district budget.  In addition, we will hear the recommendations of the PTA Nominating Committee for the 2014-2015 PTA Executive Board.  Click here to see the meeting agenda.  All are welcome to attend!   

8th GRADE PARENTS - SAVE THE DATE for our March PTA meeting - March 19th at 7:00pm.  At this meeting, Matt Campbell, Las Lomas Principal, will be joining us to answer your questions about Las Lomas.  You won't want to miss it!

We need your help to earn more money for WCI PTA!
  • Safeway has made an important change! 
  • Paying for your groceries with a credit card will no longer earn a contribution.
  • Use your Club Card and please pay with any form of payment that is NOT a credit card so our group will earn. 
We suggest that if you want to still earn your credit card points, please purchase a Safeway gift card with your credit card and then purchase your groceries with that gift card. This will maximize the contribution to WCI PTA.

Reflections Accomplishments

Congratulations to Ethan T. on advancing to the state level in the PTA Reflections art contest! Ethan's film production entry was the district winner for middle school. Great job Ethan and all our WCI artists! 

8th Grade DC/NY Trip

It's still not too late to sign up for the DC/NY trip in June 2014.  Sign up ASAP, as we are putting together the final trip details!  To register, go to www.worldstrides.com, and our trip number is 89423. An informational video is available, contact us if you would like one. 6th Grade Tdap Requirements
All 6thgrade students will need to show proof of having received Tdap (pertussis) vaccination after the age of seven before they enter seventh grade.  We are now starting to collect this information from all 6th grade students. We are asking all 6th grade families to provide written verification of Tdap as soon as possible.

 

 

Proof of vaccination may be submitted by:

WCI Sports
2014 WCI Coed Golf

Registration is from February 3rd through February 28th.  Tryouts start Monday, March 3rd and Wednesday, March 5th. Participants pay green fees of $10.00 for tryouts.  Participants must play both days of tryouts. Please collect the tryout green fees (separate payment) with the registration fee and form. Players must have experience playing on a golf course; have their own clubs, golf shoes. Collared shirts must be worn, no t-shirts. Tryouts will be necessary if more than 12 participants sign up. Please see attached golf quiz to be given with the registration form.

Practice will start, March 10th for WCI, March 11th for Foothill on the course at 3:45-Dark and both teams on Thursday, March 13th on the practice range 3:30-5:00.  Then practices will be every Monday for WCI and Tuesday for Foothill on the course and Thursdays on the range through May 23rd except during spring break. Monday and Tuesday practice 3:45 till dark, Thursday range 3:30-5:00. Matches are on Wednesdays.

DAYS OF PRACTICE SUBJECT TO CHANGE!!!!!

Cost: $305 (includes team shirts)

The Creek at WCI

The Creek at WCI is an after school youth center designed specifically for middle school students. Located in rooms 501 and 502, The Creek is open every day after school until 6:00 PM. Licensed by Community Care Licensing, The Creek offers homework assistance, games, art activities and outside sports as well as a hearty snack. With a paid staff of four young adults as well as the Director, The Creek offers a great bridge from school to home for families needing after school care. Registration for next year begins in March but a few slots have opened up for the remainder of this school year. Article Submission Guidelines
The WCI PTA publishes the eNewsletter every Wednesday. Our goal is to provide information to the WCI community in a timely manner. If you have an article to contribute email it to Susan Heitmann at [email protected]. Please limit articles to 150 words or less. The deadline is every Sunday at 6pm.

For community announcements (non WCI specific submissions) please review the community section guidelines for approval by the Walnut Creek School District.
