Principal's Message
Congratulations to the WCI band who placed 4th in the Folsom Jazz Festival.  This is one of the largest festivals in California and it is great to have students show to others all the hard work they have put into their music class.  Also, congratulations to all the students who will be in the Spelling Bee this Thursday and all those who were on honor roll for the second quarter.  Let's keep up the great effort going into the second half of our school year.

Have a wonderful week.

Las Lomas Open House
8th Graders

This Thursday, February 6th
, we will host our annual Open House.  There will be a meeting for 8th grade parents at 5:30 followed by time to visit classrooms.  We moved Open House to February to coincide with students registering for next year's classes.  I strongly encourage you to visit the classes your student is interested in signing up for next year.  This is a great opportunity to explore your student's elective interests and core academic offerings.

After your visit, please talk with your student about next year's schedule.  It is very important that your student's course selection accurately reflects their interests.  In addition, it is equally important that you take into consideration your student's past academic performance and planned extracurricular activities when planning his/her schedule.

Please follow the link to the Open House Program.  We hope to see you Thursday.
8th Grade Activity Volunteers Needed
Volunteers are needed to help organize and run upcoming 8th grade activities. We need volunteers to head committees and recruit additional help. Activities include: Civil War day, Picnic and the Dance. If interested, please join us for our 1st meeting on Monday, Feb. 10th at 4:00 p.m. in the WCI library. Please contact Streeta with questions.

WCEF February Donation Update

  • Thank you to all who have made your 2013-2014 WCEF donation! To date we have raised $624,000.
  • We are $53,000 away from meeting our funded commitments for this school year. It is important for all our families to contribute in any amount that works best for them.
  • Join our SUSTAINABLE DONOR PROGRAM: WCEF is launching a new way to make your donation which will help secure ongoing funding and assist parents by spreading their payments to WCEF out over the course of the year. Many families are taking advantage of this online giving plan and setting up monthly deductions that are ongoing for the duration that your child is in school (setting up 12 and 24 months of giving at a time depending on the expiration date on your credit card).  For more information please contact Liz Davis at [email protected] or call 925.933.9233.
  • 31% of our families have donated - if you are in the 69% that haven't made your donation, there is still time to make your 2013-2014 tax-deductible donation. Please consider making it today! Your donation is needed now to meet this year's program, staff and materials funding needs; our students are counting on all of us!

Thank you also to our amazing volunteers who worked the phones last week.  And a special thank you to our WCSD teachers: Tina Adams, Cheri Dumont, Diane McClelland, Claudia Young and Brendan Hurd for their help. Together We're Stronger!

WCEF would like to wrap up the current 2013-2014 campaign by March 30. If you have yet to make your 2013-2014 donation please donate online today!

Japan Days! Brought to you by WCEF

On January 16 and 17, all WCI 7th grade students celebrated the culture of Japan, and enjoyed a day of sushi making, Haiku scrolls, Origami Samurai hats, and traditional Japanese brush painting. It's a highlight of the year for every 7th grader that goes through WCI. Your donations to WCEF make sure it happens.
