SERIOUSLY, WE REALLY NEED YOU TO VOLUNTEER

Thank you to all of the wonderful volunteers who have helped get us through the first few weeks of school. We would not be successful without your support! Many of our volunteers work full-time and squeeze a little time out of their very busy schedules to help out. Many of our positions only involve a couple of hours per month on your computer. Please consider helping out. We could really use help from more Cicero dads too!

WE NEED THE FOLLOWING:

Lunch Volunteers Click this link to see our Sign-Up on VolunteerSpot: http://vols.pt/hvTs9b

Dine Arounds and Scrip/Gift Cards -
We are in need of two volunteers to handle each one of these projects and work directly with our PSO Passive Fundraising Lead. If interested, please contact: passivefundraising@ciceropso.org.

Prep Yearbook - Would you like to be involved in creating the Prep Yearbook this year? We need committee members! Please send an email to yearbook@ciceropso.org if you are interested. Please specify PREP yearbook.

If you're interested in helping out the PSO in any capacity, please contact Cicero Prep PSO President, Meghan Koch at preppresident@ciceropso.org.

RETURN E-RATE FORMS & TRY TO WIN A POPSICLE PARTY!

Students brought home an E-rate form this past week. Please fill it out and have your student return it. It may provide discounts to Cicero on technology services.

The Class at Archway Cicero and Cicero Prep that receives the most E-rate forms by Thursday, Sept 3rd, will receive popsicles the last 20 minutes of early release on Friday, Sept 4.

FACULTY SPOTLIGHT

Mr. Yost, 7th Grade Music

Q: In the first few weeks of school, what about Cicero Prep has made the greatest impression to you?

Mr. Yost: In a word, the incredible community that exists here. I am struck daily by the knowledge and dedication of my colleagues, the eagerness to learn and the sense of their own dignity exhibited by my students and the love and respect shared by everyone around me.

Q: When did you start playing your first instrument and what was it?

Mr. Yost: I started singing in an international caliber children's choir in fifth grade, which was also the same time I started studying piano. I didn't discover my true love - composition - until about a year later.

Q: Was music your favorite subject in middle school?

Mr. Yost: I'm sure anyone who's been at Cicero before school, after school or during a passing period has seen the incredible display of locker decorations we have to offer. While mine didn't hold a candle to the disco balls and Christmas lights I've seen on display here, when I was in middle school my locker was pretty impressively decorated with pictures of composers. So yes, music was my favorite subject by far. But I also loved math and literature.

Q: Where is the most interesting or exciting venue you have performed?

Mr. Yost: I had the great privilege to have a symphonic work of my composition performed at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. where I also sang in Carl Orff's Carmina Burana. I've also been blessed to sing choral Masses and concerts at many of the great churches in Europe, including St. Peter's in the Vatican and the cathedrals of Milan and Seville.

PICTURE DAY - THURSDAY

iPADS NEEDED

Our lunch program is in desperate need of two iPads. These iPads can be used and we don't care how old they are, as long as they work. If you have never worked lunch before, we utilize an online program to mark when a lunch is handed out, kid by kid. It also tracks when kids are absent. It's a great system that allows the lunch program to be very efficient. The problem is that our current devices crash almost every day, making the job of distributing lunches incredibly difficult and delay the volunteers' ability to get the lunches out to the kids. If you have an iPad laying around that you aren't using or if you'd like to donate a new one, we would appreciate the support! Please contact Donna Church at lunchlead@ciceropso.org.

CLIP, CLIP, HOORAH!
It's Box Top Time and
We Need Your Help!

The Cicero Passive Fundraising team is kicking off this year with a bang and an opportunity to WIN your class a pizza party!

Here's How It Works:
  • Contest Deadline: Sept. 25
  • Incentive: The class who turns in the most for both Archway Cicero and Cicero Prep will earn a pizza party.
  • The pizza party will be held in October (date TBD) during lunch for Archway and Prep.
Students can bring their Box Tops into their homeroom and deposit them into the designated box all year round. Even though this classroom incentive has a deadline, Cicero collects Box Tops all year long, so please clip and save throughout the year as this is a great way for us to raise money for our school.

Thank you for your support and helping to make our school the BEST! If you have any questions about Box Tops, please email passivefundraising@ciceropso.org.

Keep your eyes open and ears tuned for more opportunities from Passive Fundraising coming in the near future. If you have any questions about Box Tops or would like to help on the Passive Fundraising team, please email: passivefundraising@ciceropso.org.

CICERO OKTOBERFEST
SCHOOL FUNDRAISER
& AUCTION

Archway Cicero and Cicero Prep are planning a fundraiser and auction event for Nov. 6th.

If you are interested in volunteering your time, talent or treasure, please contact Natalia Solis, nc@azpre.com

Also, if you can help get donations for our silent and live auction, that would be fantastic! We're looking for gift cards (for restaurants and services), tickets to sporting events, museums and entertainment venues, movie tickets, hotel staycations, rounds of golf, out of town experiences, airline miles, time shares - basically, any items that could be auctioned off and help raise money for our school.
