CICERO GOLF CLASSIC 2015
The First Annual Cicero Golf Classic was a big success! It took place at The Talking Stick Golf Club yesterday afternoon. It kicked off with a putting contest and then more than 50 golfers drove out to their starting positions to begin their rounds. There were several different fun contests and challenges along the way. Headmaster Dr. Discher served as a personal caddie to one lucky foursome. The weather held out for most of the afternoon, finally getting a bit drizzly and windy towards the end. When everyone finished their rounds, they enjoyed a delicious buffet dinner in the Clubhouse. Awards were given out and raffle winners were announced. We hope to see even more members of the Cicero community out there next year!

Thank you to Cicero dad, Robert Becker, who took more than 300 photos at the tournament, capturing most of the golfers in action! He's offered a Dropbox link so you can download photos yourself: Cicero Golf Tournament Photos

RECYCLING DAY AT CICERO!

Congratulations! Last Thursday, there was more recycling than trash at Cicero! The kids learned many new things (teachers and parents too) got prizes and had fun thanks to a presentation by Republic Services.

We are asking the kids to stop and think "Recycle or Trash?" before throwing away their lunch.

DID YOU KNOW??? Take the Recycling Quiz Part II:

Did you know that the average American produces more than 4 pounds of trash per day? The good news is that 3 of those pounds can be recycled!

Did you know that it is much cheaper to recycle than put things in the landfill? And it's better for the Earth!

WHAT'S RECYCLABLE?

Straws? YES
Capri Sun? NO
Plastic Silverware? YES
Wrappers (granola bars, go-gurts, etc...) NO
Greasy Pizza Boxes? YES
(if possible, try to clean out the cheese)
Peanut Butter Jars? YES (only if cleaned, if not, toss them)

Parents, Here is an informational sheet you can print and keep near your garbage can to teach your kids more about recycling: RecycleInfoSheet

STUDENTS ENJOYING BOOKS

Cicero students are enjoying the books that teachers selected from our first annual Used Book Sale. We will begin to order books from the book sale profits within the next few weeks, to add even more to our inventory. How exciting! The library will not be open for students this year however.

NEW INFORMATION IN THIS NEWSLETTER - PLEASE READ
CICERO SPRING CONCERT 2015

There are only 10 days until our concert, so if you haven't assembled your student's concert attire, you'll want to do so soon. Also, if you have any questions, please let me know.

During the concert, all students will be sitting together as a class in the back of the hall to watch other classes perform. To maintain order during the concert, K-2 students will stay with their classes until the 2nd graders are finished and return back to their seats. After the 2nd grade performance, K-2 students will sit with their families if they're staying for the 3rd-5th grade concert. If they're not staying for the 3rd-5th grade concert, parents please pick up your K-2 students in the back of the hall only AFTER the 2nd grade performance.

Thank you for your support of our young musicians!

AMAZON WISH LISTS

A HUGE thank you to all families who have already purchased items from our schools' Amazon wish lists.  The impact of your generosity on our teachers is so great!  I have to share with you their excitement when asked to pick up their goodies from the front office.  These lists contribute to the classroom in ways that enhance our student's learning experience.  For example, the Archway music teacher uses hand puppets to keep the children engaged.  All eyes are focused on her so the music lesson is memorable and enjoyable.  And in Mr. Milford's Prep science class, student learning is greatly enhanced with the addition of 6 new microscopes, petri dishes and a super cool dissecting kit, all compliments of parents who made purchases from the Amazon wish list.

NEW!!!

Since so many families have requested this, each school's Amazon wish list now includes items for the Founding Families Fund. These include chess sets for the library, books, park benches, podiums, ideas for bleachers, scoreboards, artificial grass in the quad and more.  Please use the Amazon Associates link so Cicero will earn 3% from all your purchases. Click on the Amazon logo on each school's website to check it out today!  Thank you for your generous support.

Every donor will receive an acknowledgement, thank you letter and tax receipt. All gifts will also be labeled with the donor's name. Here is the link: Archway Cicero Amazon Link. You should see the teachers' names along the left side of the page. Questions?

Please contact Angela Braun, Directory of Academy Giving at 480.271.3508 or [email protected]
