SEVENTH SUNDAY OF EASTERTIDE
SECOND PALM SUNDAY
The reading is from the First Letter of John 5:13-21
I write this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life. And this is the confidence which we have in him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have obtained the requests made of him. If any one sees his brother committing what is not a mortal sin, he will ask, and God will give him life for those whose sin is not mortal. There is sin which is mortal; I do not say that one is to pray for that. All wrongdoing is sin, but there is sin which is not mortal.
We know that any one born of God does not sin, but He who was born of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him. We know that we are of God, and the whole world is in the power of the evil one.
And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us under�standing, to know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life. Little children, keep yourselves from idols.
THE HOLY GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST ACCORDING TO JOHN 12:12-23
Concerning the Advent of our Lord Jesus Christ:
The next day a great crowd who had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying, "Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!" and Jesus found a young ass and sat upon it; as it is written, "Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your king is coming, sitting on an ass's colt!" His disciples did not understand this at first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that this had been written of him and had been done to him. The crowd that had been with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead bore witness. The reason why the crowd went to meet him was that they heard he had done this sign. The Pharisees then said to one another, "You see that you can do nothing; look, the world has gone after him."
Now among those who went up to worship at the feast were some Greeks. So these came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and said to him, "Sir, we wish to see Jesus." Philip went and told Andrew; Andrew went with Philip and they told Jesus. And Jesus answered them, "The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified."
ՅԻՍՈՒՍ ՔՐԻՍՏՈՍԻ ԱՒԵՏԱՐԱՆԷՆ ԸՍՏ ՅՈՎՀԱՆՆԷՍԻ Գլուխ 12։12-23
Յաջորդ օր ժողովուրդի մեծ բազմութիւն մը, որ զատկի տօնին առիթով Երուսաղէմ եկած էր, երբ լսեց թէ Յիսուս Երուսաղէմ կու գայ, արմաւենիի ճիւղեր առաւ եւ Յիսուսը դիմաւորելու ելաւ, բարձրաձայն աղաղակելով.
�Ոսվաննա,
օրհնեա՜լ ըլլայ ան որ կու գայ Տիրոջ անունով,
Իսրայէլի թագաւորը�։
Յիսուս էշ մը գտնելով նստաւ անոր վրայ, ինչպէս Սուրբ Գիրքերուն մէջ գրուած է.
�Մի՛ վախնար, Ով Երուսաղէմ, Սիոնի՛ աղջիկ,
Որովհետեւ թագաւորդ քեզի կու գայ
Իշու մը աւանակին վրայ նստած�։
Յիսուսի աշակերտները այս բոլորը չհասկցան ատենին, բայց Յիսուս փառաւորուեցաւ՝ այն ատեն յիշեցին թէ այս կատարուածները Յիսուսի համար գրուած էին եւ իրենք այդ գրուածն էր որ կատարեցին։ Բոլորն ալ կը վկայէին թէ Յիսուս Ղազարոսը կանչեց գերեզմանէն եւ զայն մեռելներէն յարուցանեց։ Այս իսկ պատճառով Երուսաղէմ գտնուողները բոլորն ալ զինք դիմաւորելու ելան, որովհետեւ լսած էին թէ ի՛նչպէս ան յարութեան հրաշքը գործած էր։ Իսկ փարիսեցիները իրարու կ՚ըսէին. �Կը տեսնէ՞ք որ բան մըն ալ չենք կրնար ընել. ահա ամբողջ աշխարհը իրեն կը հետեւի�։
Տօնին առիթով կարգ մը յոյներ ալ եկած էին Երուսաղէմ՝ Աստուծոյ երկրպագելու։ Անոնք մօտեցան Փիլիպպոսի, որ Գալիլիայի Բեթսայիդա քաղաքէն էր, եւ աղաչեով ըսին. �Տէ՛ր, կ՚ուզենք Յիսուսը տեսնել�։ Փիլիպպոս եկաւ Անդրէասին ըսաւ եւ երկուքը միասին Յիսուսի ներկայացուցին անոնց խնդրանքը։ Յիսուս պատասխանեց. �Ահա մարդու Որդիին փառաւորուելու ժամը հասաւ�։

Կիրակի Մայիս մէկը սովորականէն տարբեր օր մըն էր Հայկազեան Վարժարանէն ներս։ Այդ օրը եօթը աշակերտներ մասնակցեցան Համազգայինի կազմակերպած Հայկական Ընդհանուր Զարգացման մրցումին։ Շնորհակալութիւն Համազգայինին, որ դարձեալ այսպիսի առիթ մը ընծայեց բոլոր Հայ աշակերտներուն։
Այս առիթով կ՚ուզեմ շնորհաւորել մեր մասնակցող աշակերտներուն (Աբօյին, Ալեքսին, Իզապէլին, Անիին, Քամիլին, Դալարին ու Արեգին), իրենց ցուցաբերած խանդավառութեան, կամքին ու փափաքին՝ մասնակցելու եւ սորվելու նոր գիտելիքներ իրենց Հայրենիքի ու ազգի պատմութեան եւ մշակոյթին մասին։ Մեծ էր իրենց հետաքրքրութիւնը բոլոր նիւթերուն վերաբերեալ։ Անոնք շատ լուրջ եւ հետեւողական աշխարանք տարին ոչ միայն գերազանց արդիւնքներ բերելու համար, այլ նաեւ մօտէն ծանօթանալու իրենց ազգային պատմութեան։
Սրտանց կը շնորհաւորեմ զիրենք եւ մեծապէս կը գնահատեմ իրենց հայկական ու հայ մնալու ոգին։ Շատ հպարտ եմ ձեզմով։
Հազար ապրիք իմ սիրելի աշակերտներ։
Ուսուցչուհի՝ Անոյշ Յովսէփեան Haigazian School students represented Philadelphia in the first round of 2016 Armenian Knowledge Bowl (AKB) competition organized by Hamazkayin Eastern Regional Board on May 4, 2016. Younger group consisting of Camille Kakoyan, Talar Hovsepian and Arek Handian and older group consisting of Isabelle Esenyan, Alex Esenyan, Apo Handian and Ani Hovsepian competed in jeopardy style event against Washington DC's Hamasdegh School via skype. It was a great round and both teams were well-prepared and were very enthusiastic. Haigazian School's younger group lost with one question and Washington DC's Hamasdegh group was declared as the winner to proceed to the next round. The teams for the older group went to overtime and ended up in a tie. Per decision by the AKB committee Philadelphia Haigazian School's older group will proceed to compete against New Jersey team for the next round.
Haigazian School students and teachers deserve our big thanks for the wonderful representation of Philadelphia in Armenian Knowledge Bowl contest.

We are gearing up for another great day of fun at St. Gregory's 13th Annual Golf Outing! This year we will be playing at the picturesque Talamore Country Club in Ambler PA with its beautiful historic clubhouse. The date is Tuesday September 20 and the cost is only $150 per player.
