Greetings from the Spirit of Harmony Foundation! Whether you're a fan of my music or you're already a donor, your support has been crucial to making this foundation possible.

I'm writing to ask you to consider donating to the Spirit of Harmony Foundation as you make your year-end charitable decisions.

At the Spirit of Harmony Foundation, we believe that music education has a tremendous and far-reaching impact on the lives of young people. Our mission, "providing opportunities for personal development and self-expression through the support of music and music education," is backed by research that shows music has tangible effects on all aspects of a person's life.

Whenever I have an opportunity to personally visit little kids, teenagers, or young adults studying music, I'm impressed by their intensity and willingness to tackle especially challenging works. Music frees something very important and very human within our souls: imagination, creativity, and perseverance.

I'm convinced that kids who study music experience a lifetime of rewards-because music changes the way we think, the way we interact with others, and the way we see and hear the world. Music adds new dimensions, skills, and enrichment to life. It doesn't matter if most of the kids never become rock stars or take the stage with the world's finest symphonies or inspire generations as teachers, composers, or virtuosos. Some will make a career of music, but all of them will benefit from the positive results of a music education.

The Spirit of Harmony Foundation grew out of my fans' efforts to make a positive difference in people's lives as we share our love of music. What began as some real feel-good moments supporting young musicians has been leveraged into something more, to support that spirit and keep it going on a larger scale. We work with existing music programs, matching resources with needs, and we advocate for music education as a moral imperative for all children, regardless of socioeconomic status.

We are not a typical kind of set-up. We have no office building or costly infrastructure, so every dollar you contribute goes toward our mission and vision of a world in which music education is recognized as an integral part of growing up-not simply an expendable add-on that can be cut in the first round of school budget negotiations.

The Foundation has 501(c)(3) status with the Internal Revenue Service. Your tax-deductible gift will help bring music to the world.
