Hortonville Area Education Foundation Supports HASD Programs
  Since 1996, the Hortonville Area Education Foundation (HAEF) has extended and enriched learning for our public school students, teachers and community members in many ways. The primary mission of HAEF is to "promote excellence in education through programs not typically funded by the school's operating budget."
In these tough economic times, our schools have needed and appreciated the support of this non-profit organization.

HASD Saved Over $108,000 from
Energy Saving Measures

Schools today face a litany of decisions when it comes to their budgets. With all those decisions to be made, Hortonville School District has found ways to save the school district money by conserving energy. Cooperative Educational Service Agency (CESA) 10 based in Chippewa Falls, has helped the district save $108,108 between June 2012 and May 2013. New Math Series Adopted for Grades K-8   

It's an exciting time in mathematics at the Hortonville Area School District (HASD). Changes in both instruction and assessment are occurring in our middle and elementary schools. It is important that you are aware of these changes and the resources that will allow you to support your child as we transition.

In 2010, Wisconsin adopted the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics (CCSSM) http://www.corestandards.org/Math. These are a national set of standards, common to all states (currently 48) authored by school administrators and mathematics education experts. Read more...

Project Lead the Way Program Continues to Expand and Prepare Students for the Future

 

In fall 2011, the Manufacturing, Engineering, and Technology (MET) 
Department at Hortonville High School (HHS) introduced a curriculum called Project Lead the Way (PLTW), which provides rigorous and innovative Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education curricular programs for elementary, middle, and high schools across the U.S.

 

Since starting PLTW, the department has added additional courses each school year to continue challenging and preparing students for future education and the workforce. A common theme among the courses is offering project-based learning where students engage in group activities to solve problems and challenges. Read more...
