When: Thursday, January 24, 2013

Where: Varsity Boys Basketball Game @ New London High School

What: Donate new, gently used hats and mittens.

The toss will take place at half time of the

varsity game.

Bring in as many mittens as possible - Let's beat New London!

Evaluating Teacher Effectiveness in HASD

 

Ensuring that students learn at the highest level and are taught effectively is important in the Hortonville Area School District. To achieve this, it is essential to have effective teachers, which is why the HASD implemented the Teacher Effectiveness initiative starting in Fall 2012.

 

The teacher effectiveness initiative is rooted in a desire to create consistency in measuring school and teacher success, using common measures. What can be found from research done by professionals on teacher effectiveness and student achievement is that classroom teachers have the greatest potential to impact a child's academic achievement. According to the CESA 6 Moodle Site, "two years of effective teachers could not remediate the achievement loss caused by one year with a poor teacher." This statistic alone shows the importance of ensuring that students have effective teachers each and every year of their education. Read more...

The Hortonville High School Store just celebrated its first anniversary this month. This first year has far exceeded expectations for the store having just started out last year.
