FEATURED ARTICLES
Article on Clinical Studies of Biofield Therapies

An article published in the online Global Advances in Healing and Medicine Journal in November 2015, captures some of the methodological issues in biofield therapy research.

Title: Clinical Studies of Biofield Therapies:  Summary, Methodological Challenges, and Recommendations

Authors and Contributors:  Shamini Jain, PhD,corresponding author Richard Hammerschlag, PhD, Paul Mills, PhD, Lorenzo Cohen, PhD, Richard Krieger, MD, Cassandra Vieten, PhD, and Susan Lutgendorf, PhD

Abstract
Biofield therapies are noninvasive therapies in which the practitioner explicitly works with a client's biofield (interacting fields of energy and information that surround living systems) to stimulate healing responses in patients. While the practice of biofield therapies has existed in Eastern and Western cultures for thousands of years, empirical research on the effectiveness of biofield therapies is still relatively nascent. In this article, we provide a summary of the state of the evidence for biofield therapies for a number of different clinical conditions. We note specific methodological issues for research in biofield therapies that need to be addressed (including practitioner-based, outcomes-based, and research design considerations), as well as provide a list of suggested next steps for biofield researchers to consider.

Journaling Your Path to Certification Renewal - Will You Be Ready?
By Betty Feldman, HTCP

Journaling is an excellent way to ready yourself for submitting your Certification Renewal papers. Maybe you have just become a Healing Touch Certified Practitioner. First you will be busy updating forms and your resume to reflect your new status and goals. Your Personal Profile Notebook should become a useful tool for you, a place to add your new certificate, and a yearly update of your HTPA Membership and Liability Insurance Certificate. Then study the Certification Renewal Requirements, and bookmark this page in your computer. Five years seems like a long way into the future, but as this time approaches, you will be asked to reflect on yourself and professional growth, and on the growth of your Healing Touch practice, however your practice may be defined by you.
